I can't help but wonder...

USC is potentially staring down the barrel.

USC hires a guy that can't get out of bed without committing a secondary violation.

I wonder how the NCAA is going to look at all of this?

Unbelievable, even for this group, and that's saying something. I understand changing jobs, but there is a right way and a wrong way to go about it. There are some thing you just don't do... and those coaches (especially Kiffin and Orgeron) have been around long enough to know what is crossing the line. The way Kiffin and his staff are dealing with this is about as low as a staff could possibly go. They didn't just cross the line with their antics, they flew past it leaving it in their rear view mirror. The Vols are going to be much better off in the long run (and probably the sort run too) without this clown. Al Davis had him pegged, but since he's a bit of an odd ball, not many folks took him very seriously. If USC fans are happy about him being hired, then I would tend to think they are not being honest with themselves.

I wonder what Lance Thompson is thinking in all this?

I don't see him at USC...I just don't see it.

Everything you said is true but isn't what he did with calling the recruits and everything a violation? A pretty big one?

I dont see it either but I think he burned that bridge to Tuscaloosa.

.

I'm thinking this is a technicality situation. There's no question it's outside of the "ethical boundaries," but considering he has signed a contract with USC he's not officially an employee.

I can't begin to see any up side to Kiffen. It looks like USC would be forced to hire him as part of the pending NCAA punishment.

But they seem pleased and consider him a good hire.

What could they be thinking?

I don't know that they're truly happy with the Kiffin part of things, but they're so dang giddy over the staff he's bringing they can't see straight.

I read a comment last night along the lines of "we somehow have to find a way to put up with this twerp (nice way to put it) to get the staff that comes along with him".

With the possibility of NCAA sanctions for USC, I can't help but envision a Shula-like saga occuring on the West Coast--young coach, with hardly any collegiate coaching experience, is hired to get the Trojans through its lean times, only to be cast aside once the program has served its punishment.

What I think is funny is when UT hired the little worm UT fans were giddy with it and when Kiffin started running his mouth the UT fans were giddy with it, saying "That's UT football" "We like his cockiness" and then when he takes off they're surprised. You can only play around with a cobra before you get bit. Now, UT has been bit. They laughed their little a$$es off when we were going through the crappy head coaches and now they lay in the bed they made.

My thing is, its against the rules to attempt to get another job while on your former employees campus or whatever, wouldn't it be the same for recruits?

At least Shula gave a damn about Alabama; he left the program better than he found it for sure. He also brought in some good players, just did not know how to use them. I, for one, appreciate the effort he put forth even if he did kind of fall flat on his face at times. I would love to see him on Saban's staff someday or even geta shot a another HC position.

He would sure be a better hire for someplace than someone like Kiffen who has never done ****; at least Shula posted one pretty good season at Alabama.
