Pretty unbelievable. We're 6-4 in Q1 games. Only Wisconsin and Baylor are better with seven wins. Crazy considering we still have Auburn, Kentucky (twice), and @LSU left. That's 14 Q1 games in one year. Insanity.
Do like that Oats is challenging Bediako a little bit more. He's still showing a bit of his youth and still playing raw, but he's coming along. Some of his defensive woes haven't all been on him. If our guards are getting beat off the dribble, he's in a tough spot to protect the rim. He and Gary are really our only two guys inside that have quick feet and can guard the paint well. Gurley and Rojas are just not good about staying in front of their man and allowing open lanes. Their effort is fine, but they really can be a liability. Bediako just goes through lapses where he ball watches too much and forgets to do the basics (box out, go for tips for second chance opportunities, crash the boards, etc..). But he's coming along. We could probably feed him the ball more inside. He's got a tough task against Kentucky and Auburn coming up. Hope he's up for the challenge.
Oats pretty much said what we've known all season. Play with better effort and intensity, and we've got a good shot of winning every game on our schedule. Our ball screen defense was really good against Baylor. Was kind of surprised considering Baylor's length and speed.
