🏈 NY Giants hire Burton Burns as RB coach

I find this interesting. He is 67.

1. It's the NFL and maybe he wanted to give it a try as a once in a lifetime shot. Or the last opportunity to coach at the highest level.

2. Makes me wonder if Saban pushed him out into another role. I want to say I remember something about maybe coming off the road and not having to recruit.

On another note, Joe Judge was a god awful hire for the Giants. The dude coached receivers for one year, and prior to that his only experience I think was mostly coaching special teams. The Giants usually make good decisions as a franchise, but holy cow, they gaffed on this one pretty bad.

Dang, very sad to see him go. I know he relinquished his role at Alabama, but he was a great face around the program and raised some studs. They adored him, and I believe he was the last original from Saban's group he brought in.

He's been off the field for two years. Had knee surgery (knee replacement?). He has a lot of experience that isn't being used. I don't think Saban pushed anything.

I wonder if Saban would use this position to slide Golding into and allow him to keep him in some capacity and hire another DC.

I guess that is plausible, but I would think Golding being 35, I would imagine he would want to be on the field. Most guys that age do.

Given the fact that he has experienced some "off field" or "at home" issues. Maybe being in an off field capacity is good and in a year or two, when he gets the crap settled with his off field issue, he can get back to coaching. (position coaching)

This is sort of why I put that out there. We have heard CNS speak so highly of Golding, that I believe he would try and keep him on board for as long as possible.
