| CURRENT EVENTS NSFW: Get this. A protest, where they didn't have masks.

@ElephantStomp let me take this a step farther.

I know of two people who attend the same church, believe in the same God, but live their lives differently. There's a service called "First Wednesday" that is a praise and worship service. One, dressed in shorts. The other, in a tie. One, high. The other wouldn't think about being high at church.

The other days of the month their lives aren't different. Just that one night. I understand both positions, but only agree with one. You don't change who you are on one night, or because you are in a building.

I asked the "sober" one if he prayed when he was high. "Yes." So, what's the difference?
I believe they believe in the same god, but they’re not going to end up at the same place depending on what version of god you believe in. I’ve talked to a fundamental Baptist pastor that believed if you did anything in life other than them the Bibl, go to church, and pray you were going to hell, I’ve been to churches that you wouldn’t even hardly know was a church outside of the preaching, so which god is the correct one?

Take it a step further- Muslims and Christians don’t believe in the same style of god and many people that claim to be Christian (on this site included) believe that all Muslims are shitty people, who’s to say the Christian god is the right one? Although those religions have something in common- they both believe women are below men in the hierarch, different levels obviously

The one the Native Americans worshipped was and is different though, Christians belief the only way to their idea of Heaven is through belief and a prayer, Native Americans don’t believe in that at all, so I suspect that Native Americans and the Puritans believed in different gods or at least different ideas of what god is
The tribal rituals of the Native Americans say differently. Sweat lodges, peyote rituals, and the like...it was a spiritual connection they were having.

Puritans, had a different outlook. But, who is to argue they aren't looking at the same God. The same higher power.

They are only interpreting it differently is a valid argument. It's a classic example of staring at a tree branch instead of looking at the tree...not to mention the forest.

There was a time when I thought I was “called“ to be a Pastor, many many many moons ago, that’s what led me to reading it so many times.

Most interesting was a non-denom church, they waved flags, jumped up and down, were loud with their “praise” and some claimed to be able to speak in tongues.

Best was an African American church in Tennessee (went there with a classmate from grad school), that was an absolute party, the singing, the dancing, and the food afterwards? Some of the food I had after the service is still the best I’ve ever had.

Another of the best ones or one where I had the most fun was a Samoan (Reformed Congressional Christian) church (Ex-wife’s family took me) That’s unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life. It was a different type of “party”, the fellowship was something that I cannot explain and the food? Some of the best I’ve ever had, the kalua pua’a (pig) that was roasted in ground damn near made me believe in heaven, as did the sapasui (chop suey), only dessert I could eat was called Panikeke, it‘s like a donut, it almost turned me into Billy Graham.
Best? African American for me as well. Pentecostal. Maybe 50 people there. Here's the thing. It was a church: by the strictness of definitions. There was no doubt those people loved each other.

Non-denom: I attend one service a month. It's the first Wednesday of the month. Now, a caveat. It's catered by Dish & Design. GREAT food. $5 bucks a plate...goes to charities. Kids are off doing their thing...pizza and all of that.

I love the music. Everyone has their own thing: it's my monthly therapy. I've watched this church for over a decade...been an interesting experience..

Watch a few minutes...not your normal "church service." This is November. It's a shorts and tee shirt concert.

You don't like the missionary position? :devilish:

Also, I was WONDERING why they opened with TWO Brandon Lake songs...

Then I remembered HE was from SC (couldn't remember what city, though)
...

Quick Google search, and he's the lead worship pastor at THAT CHURCH 😳

DUUUUUUUUDE!

You attend Brandon Lake's church?!?!

I love Brandon. I've covered quite a few of his songs in worship settings.

Now I'm on the 3rd song, 12m mark, and yes... You're dead on.

She's singing with her HEART.

ETA Yes, I realize after the fact that I quoted the wrong post..

You get it, though 😁

That reminded of a Pentatonix concert. Looks like a lot of fun.

You’re right not your normal “church service” at all. I agree with you everyone does have their own thing, my “church” or therapy is mountain biking and fly fishing. During the winter months I go to Moab, Utah twice a month to bike then during the summer months I go everywhere every weekend

Sorta complex, but simple. The one you believe in. What's not complex is there is one God. What's complex, is how people view the deity.

That’s awesome!! Yours is the first church I’ve ever seen do something even remotely to that, that is fantastic and y’all as a church should be commended for that
Speculating: The video threw you threw a bit of a loop when you saw a church service starting with RAP.

Look up Seacoast.

What threw my thinking one day? There isn't an offering plate. It's a bucket, at the door. Give if you want. It's mentioned every week...but...

I can't answer that. Let's bring @XXL TideFan into this. Why were books removed?
On a "personal note." I have found the NAS as the best interpretation. NIL close.

One of the best reads? The Story
Jews removed and rewrote in response to Christ. These are referred to as the Masoretic texts. Until 1054 Eastern Orthodoxy & Roman Catholicism were the same and was Christianity as practiced in the 1st century. The canon of scripture was “worked on” in Holy Synods of the 4 century. The book Wisdom of Sirach is called Ecclesiasticus (I think) in the RC Bible. The Ethiopian Orthodox (Oriental Orthodox broke off in the 4th century) has more books in their canon than any other. Even include the Book of Enoch which I have separately. The KJV is based off of the Masoretic texts. A new translation of the NT is underway by EO using original manuscripts as to date almost everyone uses the KJV version. I use 1 bible app to compare an EO translation to the KJV & there are noticeable differences at times. Specifically in severity of some terms.
Personally I would call the KJV the most corrupted because after nearly 1,000 years his scholars started tossing books. I will end by saying after 50 years as a protestant (10 yr period of atheism in the middle) I consider each new denomination sect as a dilution. Consider that Luther didn’t appear until around 500 yrs ago in response to RC shenanigans. The along came Calvin and the rest. Church of Christ 1800s in Kentucky, Mormons around the same time. Christ didn’t start revealing truth after waiting 1500 years. Just something to think about.
The oldest Christian “handbook” The Didache. Basically an apostolic handbook prior to there being an official bible because the scribes to the Apostles had difficulty writing until near the time of the Apostles death because f Jewish persecution.
