During his Monday press conference, Alabama head coach Nick Saban updated the status of running back T.J. Yeldon (ankle) and tight end Brian Vogler (knee) heading into the Tide's tilt with no. 1 ranked Mississippi State.

"T.J.'s okay. He's got a little ankle sprain. He'll probably go a little bit slower the first couple days this week, but hopefully we'll get him going later in the week and he'll be okay," said Saban.

I think Brian is going to be better this week. He didn't get re-injured at all in the game. We knew we were going to have him on just a limited basis. He wasn't able to practice a lot. That's the biggest issue sometimes. You know, a guy can't practice a lot over the course of the week and then how much do you feel like he can contribute during the game- more experienced guys like Brian can probably can play without practicing, but for the most part, college players need t practice to be able to play well in the game. Brian did a good job in the game with a limited amount of reps in practice, but we feel like he's going to be able to practice this week and be much better for this game.

Alabama and Mississippi State will kick off from Bryant-Denny at 2:30 PM CT on Saturday

I feel that the crowd noise and CLK's play calling caused the biggest problems in the LSU game. I'm still worried about TJ. Hope they don't push him so hard that we hurt him worse. Guess Nick is paid $7 million yearly to make smart decisions. I wish someone could explain to me Kiffin's reason for preferring the pass, over the run, against one of the best pass defenses in the country. Not trying to steal the thread. Just don't understand.

If you read "LSU From the Couch" on Rollbamaroll.com, you'll see that Sims missed open receivers 6 times, 3 of his passes were tipped at the line, and he threw short of the sticks on 3rd down multiple times. In addition, Amari Cooper dropped 3 very catchable balls. These are issues in execution. If you eliminated even 2/3 of those problems, nobody would be complaining about Kiffin's play calling.

Agree with you for the most part Missing. But still don't get the 6-8 sideline fade passes. Those were obviously called since he took the snap and lobbed them all up. We're on earth did we come up with those? That was frustrating. Seems like most of them were either up for grabs or went well out of bounds to be safe. I thought them strange. It's definitely not our normal passing game plan. Didn't really catch them out of position either.

The way Kiffin likes to run checks and re-arrange his offense based on defensive positions and alignment leads to a lot of verbose play calls and checks at the line. As you could see, many of these were getting lost in the noise and it just wasn't possible for Kiffin to check down from the sidelines to help Blake out, so it all leads to an unsure offense who can't quite hear/understand what is being changed. We looked like we couldn't move the ball because we just weren't getting the right plays called literally. It sucks, but we have our last 3 games of this season at home so should be a chance to show the high powered offense again.

From Tidesports:

Yeldon on the mend

It's the time of year where no one is fully healthy, nine games into a season, all the more true considering coming off the LSU game, widely considered the most physical game on the calendar each season.

That's especially true for junior running back T.J. Yeldon, who entered the LSU game with an injured right foot and exited with a sprained left ankle. Yeldon injured the ankle during a fourth quarter carry that resulted in a fumble inside the Alabama 10. He was helped off the field and didn't return during the game-tying drive in regulation or in overtime.

University of Alabama coach Nick Saban said Yeldon's injury is minor.

"T.J.'s OK. He's got a little ankle sprain. He'll probably be a little bit slowed the first couple of days this week but hopefully we'll get him going later in the week and he'll be OK," Saban said.

It's likely not the season Yeldon expected for his junior season, although that's not to say he's struggling. He clearly isn't.

However, he is averaging the fewest yards per carry in his UA career (5.1 yards a carry in 2014, 6.0 in 2013 and 6.3 in 2012). That's largely due to the offensive line, which hasn't had the chemistry and cohesion it's had in the past due to injuries and moving parts.

There is no question that Yeldon is one of the keys to making the Crimson Tide's offense go, and having him healthy is essential for the stretch run, which includes games against the No. 1 (Mississippi State) and No. 9 (Auburn) teams in the country.

"I think it's huge (to have him healthy)," right tackle Austin Shepherd said. "We're not thin-thin at running back, but I consider him one of our best players and a leader on the offense. I think it's huge to have him."
