🏈 GAME THREAD New Years Day bowl games--

Would be cool if Kirby switches to Fields for the rest of the half. maybe get some of that backup magic Saban cast in 2018. Would be funny if he did and they started getting beat worse.

I agree. Kirby Dumb should have put Fields in long ago; however, Blackledge quoted OC Chaney when asked about playing Fields. He said they didn't have a plan for him. Fields is gone. And I have to wonder how many other Jawja players are feeding off that negativity.

been reading some posts by a ucf fan on another board...

Oh well, fun while it lasted. It took UCF's star QB being out with injury to (barely) lose a game. They kept it tight even with a freshman QB being thrown into the mix the last few games of the season.

yeah, the qb being out is what lost them the game. if their freshman qb was thrown into the mix the last few games of the season, then he should have been better prepared for a game. ucf just shit the bed against an lsu team that was down 10 players on defense at 1 point and even had offensive guys playing defense.

The only thing that matters is the final score. LSU won by one TD.
this one i honestly don't understand. the final score is absolutely the only thing that matters. but if it is, then who cares if a win is by 1 td or 5? a win is a win. 1 point or 50, you don't get any extra numbers in the win column for the difference in the points; you just get a "w".

ucf lost a game, and now the excuses start flowing. also, like someone on here said, they said they'd play any team at any time. and when another team gave them that chance, they said "no". i thought any team at any time meant just that. but i guess it's only good if it's a team THEY get to choose so it's a team they know they can beat. and i also agree that if they'd been put into the playoffs, they would've gotten their asses handed to them by whoever they played.

ucf, your run is over. thank you to lsu for doing that.

damn uga....i thought y'all.....i coulda swore y'all said y'all should be in the playoffs.

you lost (i.e., got embarrassed by) to lower-ranked lsu. then you let the same team do to you this year almost the exact same thing they did to you last year (talkin' 'bout BAMA, here, just in case). then you cry about how y'all should've been the 4th team in the cfp. well, you were chosen to represent the sec in the sugar bowl against another lower-ranked team. and you turn out to be the same uga you've always been.

smh

3 losses, bet they didn't see that coming?
I don't believe this game meant a lot to UGA. It certainly didn't mean a damn thing to Deandre Baker. HOWEVER, I'm failing to see how "UGA didn't see this coming."

Like the LSU loss shouldn't have been surprising—UGA derps a game up every year. More importantly, it's still the same thing for Georgia. It is every time.

It's next year, baby. It's always next year!

**On a side note, I watched this game sitting out on my deck. Before coming back inside I thought, "I'm going to see comparisons to Bama, 2008. And, they won't be accurate." Welp, called that one. And nope, simply not the same or even close.

Six inches to the left and that photog would be on death's door step. Does PETA have a point...nah, ain't goin' there.

But, seriously, should the question be asked, "do we need these live mascots on the field?" This with Bevo, and Ralphie running loose a few years ago makes me say yes, it should be asked.

That could have easily taken a very bad turn for the worse.

This team and their fan base needed a heavy dose of reality. They seem to think they have college football surrounded these days. For my money, Jawja needs to be compared to Jawja, their historical narrative has been in the same holding pattern since Dooley retired.

I don't believe they even allow Mike the Tiger to travel to home games anymore. It feels like overkill to have a Longhorn crapping up the Superdome. I don't need it, but then we don't have a tradition of bringing alive pachyderm to the game either.

Kirby having to do this w/o Tucker for this game. I did not realize that
UGA's anticipated success was due to the hiring of Kirby, not Mel Tucker, remember? UGA had stolen Bama's "golden child." YET ...

What no one is mentioning is Kirby has been very much involved in the defensive play calling since day one. It's as close to Gus hiring an offensive coordinator as one can get.
