I can verify that Alabama is also No. 8 in the AP.

LSU and Auburn are the two most overrated teams in the top 10 in my opinion.

David Copperfield would be very proud of both. They've mastered the art of escapism.

And without Newton...let's be honest...Auburn has a record of 2-4 on the season.

UK would have beaten Auburn by three TDs without Newton.

If Newton ever gets hurt..AUB will dissolve. As Newton goes...Auburn goes.

If the Heisman is honestly based on the "importance to your team"...then Newton deserves the Heisman.

Auburn would be totally lost without Cameron Newton.

So i guess the question for us is this.....

To get to Atlanta.....we need both AU & LSU to drop a game?
Considering that will happen when they face each other.
That would mean...baring we knock of the Ms schools...no team from the west has
escaped the season unscathed. That puts control of our fate back in our hands.

As for getting to Arizona.....that'd almost take a miricle @ this point. to much has to happen.
4 of the top 6 teams would have to drop a game. If not well be looking @ OSU vs the ducks in Arizona.

That's about what I expected to see this morning. Robert Smith's argument on ESPN this morning that South Carolina would jump Bama in the poll was ridiculous.

I love the Cam Newton defense being tossed around. If you take the best player away from most team's they're not the same team. Take Tebow away from UF the last two years and they're average, take Pryor off of OSU this year and they're average, Vick from the VA Tech team his freshman year, McCoy from Texas last year--hell even Bradford from OU last year. You play with the players you have. If one guy is your biggest playmaker and you have youth around him, why not run him until the wheels come off? Dyer needs to mature before he is a big-time back but right now he is our starter. It hasn't always been pretty but we've beaten the six teams put in front of us and that's all that can be asked. The fact that Cam is carrying the offense is a moot point until someone figures out a way to stop him.

You said we need Lsu and Auburn to drop a game for us to get to Atlanta. As long as we win out they will drop a game to us and boom we are in atlanta.

No. If Bama wins out, Bama goes to Atlanta. The head to head is the first tie breaker.

not sure what the point of the post by 1980 above...kinda pointless. kinda comes across as a sore loser to me.

that being said, Roll Tide, I hope we stomp a mud hole in every teams arse from here on out (especially Auburn) - we are gonna need our A game to get past LSU and Auburn - not that I'm overlooking the other teams on the schedule - I just have a special place for LSU, Auburn, and Tennessee in my heart :)

I wouldn't say it would take a miracle. OU/Nebraska have a built-in loss in the Big XII Championship game if they both make it that far. Oregon probably has a cake walk to the BCS but I wouldn't bank on Ohio State escaping their trip to Wisconsin next week. Ohio State has a knack for losing at Wisconsin and Tressell's tenure has included dropping several games they shouldn't. If (BIG, BIG IF) Auburn knocks off Arkansas next week I firmly believe we enter the Iron Bowl as an undefeated team. If that is the case, Alabama has a shot at a top 7 (possibly top 5 depending on how the rest of the chips fall) team at home to end their season. Bama wins out and knocks off Auburn they move back to 5 or 6. The key for Bama is going to be whether USCjr can win out and be a highly ranked team when they go to Atlanta. If Bama beats a top 5-7 Auburn team and a top ten USCjr they would jump ahead of Boise and TCU regardless of how their season finishes.

So, Bama's BCS formula isn't really THAT tricky. OU or Nebraska needs to drop a game before the Big XII and then the other team needs to drop the Big XII game. For example, if Nebraska loses to Texas (don't laugh, it's an example) and then beats OU in the Big XII championship game, I think Bama jumps back into the picture. I don't see both of those teams walking into the championship game undefeated. The question mark at this point is Ohio State and how many style points Bama can rack up the rest of the year. Can they look like the dominant team of weeks 1-5 for the rest of the season? If so, they have a very, very good shot at making it to Tempe. Worst-case scenario, Bama takes one of the at-large BCS bids and hopefully gets a shot at Boise State or TCU.

The "point" was to state the obvious. If Newton goes down...Auburn is done.

I'm not being a "sore" anything...simply stating what should be obvious. The difference between Auburn being 6-0 and 2-4 is about as thick as a piece of TISSUE.

Hey...Newton could take them to an undefeated season, but that doesn't change the fact that Cam Newton IS Auburn.

Ha ha, understood with the special place in the heart statement. I don't share the hatred for Bama that most Auburn fans do but I can certainly understand. I just hope it is a good game--I'm afraid if we don't make leaps and bounds on defense between now and then we will have to depend on Bama's offense to have an off-day to win and I don't see that happening in that big of a game.

I just don't see LSU being a problem for Auburn or Alabama. I know I may well end up eating these words as long as Les Miles is on the sidelines because he has clearly sold his soul, but they are the worst 6-0 team I've ever seen. That is the worst Florida team I've seen in my lifetime and LSU struggled to stop them. I don't know, something just seems off with them this year.

just need a few wins by some other teams and we will be right back in - think positive

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Wisconsin took down Ohio State next week. Could Texas pull out a shock win over Nebraska? Nebraska hasn't played ANYBODY.
How about them Hogs taking down the Barn even though it's in Jordan-Hare? Cam is due for a crash.

Andl, of course, you gotta know McNeese State has its eye on LSU in the "trap" game!!! j/k

Regardless, I hope the USC game awakens the sleeping giant and we start putting a beat-down on teams again. Now that we don't have that first loss hanging over our heads, maybe the coaches will throw away the conservative "try not to lose" plays and dig out the aggressive "win at all costs and pound them into the dirt while we're at it" plays!

DId you watch the game? Fla scored 14 points on 2 turnovers for drives totaling 33 yards. Ran a kickoff back for a TD. The LSU defense stopped them. And, LSU scored more points on them than Bama.

And also, we handled Miss. St a lot easier than Auburn did.

The game is in Jordan-Hare though, so I'm expecting some home cooking from the refs. Just like every time we go there.

I've never seen a team more disrespected than LSU and I know it's because of Miles.
