It's an illustration of how the roof will work. The roof doesn't work yet, so any video showing the roof in operation is bogus. The roof is more two-tiered and the entire roof doesn't move.
The following news link says that was an actual time lapse of the roof being closed on 7/27.

A TIME LAPSE OF THE ROOF CLOSING AT MERCEDES-BENZ STADIUM TIME LAPSE

In the last 48 hours the roof has closed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and it looks incredible!

It is my understanding the roof can be opened or closed over an extended length of time. It just can't be opened or closed in 11 minutes as intended. Which is why it is being said that the roof is not operational. It is not operational as intended!

Right now, they have to use a remote for each petal to open and close it. It wont be fully functional until they've finished the construction to make it possible to close them all with one remote. Delays have caused the setbacks.

Regardless, the video isn't "bogus" and they closed it for the first time in June.

the roof works, the roof doesn't work.....i really don't care.

i just want to make sure we get to end our season in the same building in which we begin. and i wanna go out with a bang.

Arthur Blank is holding true to his word on creating a more fan friendly and affordable venue. Most of us of course didn't believe anyone would actually do that, but it appears they are doing it. Hopefully they aren't sacrificing any level of quality, if you can call it that. The Braves should take notice.

Some sports reporters toured the stadium several weeks ago and ate from the fan friendly menu and said it was good. They're raising an incredible amount of money from seat licenses, plus the city is kicking in tax revenue on the construction, so perhaps the pricing will hold.

You gonna make it to the Florida State game? After getting season tickets I may miss out on our game unless tickets drop dramatically, but I may go and catch the Georgia Tech-Tennessee game just to get into the new stadium before it ramps up for Falcons' and soccer games. Plus, may get the added bonus of watching Tennessee lose to a mid level ACC team.

Yes, we were able to get FSU tickets in our package, so we'll be there. They are closing lanes on the downtown connector this morning to start putting up signage for the new stadium. Supposed to be done this week.

Design is cool looking but from the second i saw it.....i knew they would have issues with it. Also those prices are more like high school football games. That's amazing if it holds.

Little bits of info are sneaking out. If you want a soda, hot dog or burger, the prices are cheap. If you want something else, prepare to pay. Jim & Nicks has a concession where a sandwich starts at $14.

Sadly, you'll pay that at any of their restaurants. We stopped going to Jim N Nicks after they continued to raise their prices. A pork sandwich on toast with two sides used to cost me $8, now it's $15. Good cheese biscuits, but the rest simply isn't worth the price. I say just be happy with a hot dog or hamburger, cause you probably shouldn't be looking for gourmet food at a football game anyways, or expect to get a deal on it.

soooo.....what was the point of putting a food establishment that's closed on sundays, in a place where the team that plays there usually plays on sundays?

i can understand there will probably be other events there, but still. your main resident plays almost all their games on a day you're not open.

I dont really understand the reasoning of putting the restaurant there. I mean I guess with it being closed on Sunday it doesn't compete with the concessions but what was the point of having it in the first place in that case?

There would only be about 11-12 pro football games played inside MB Stadium. But, if you look at the number of soccer games, concerts and other Monday through Saturday events, it may make it worthwhile. Still, your major tenant is the team that plays when you're closed.

It's one of the largest sponsors of events in the new stadium, it's a southern icon and an Atlanta institution. Only 11 of 27 football games to be played there this season will be on a Sunday, by the way. On Sundays, the stands will revert to a generic, stadium-operated stand. Interestingly, the generic stands will carry a "COS Chicken Sandwich", which stands for "Closed on Sunday".

And, five of the eight remaining home games for the Atlanta United will be played on a day other than Sunday as well. So, 21 of 35 significant events at the new stadium won't be on a Sunday. Beyond corporate recognition, it makes good business sense to be there. The ESPN reporting is up to their standard for taking a partial, slanted approach to things.

Come on man, you have to be more business savvy than this. The Falcons may be the "home" team, but there is so much else that went on at The Dome and that will go on here that Chik-Fil-A will do just fine revenue wise. And what does Mercedes Benz care as long as they pay their rent. Concerts, football games, soccer games, monster truck, motorcross, College Football Championships, playoff gsmes etc will all allow for Chik-Fil-A to do well. Trust me, companies like Chik-Fil-A are smarter than the media and those questioning their move here. And in the end, why invest so much time into giving a shit like so many are on this?
