🏈 Michigan donor paying for trips...

How is this not seen as an extra benefit? NCAA deciding to go blind now. "We will nail schools for $100 handshakes, but nothing shady about paying for the entire football program to go to Italy and France!"

I gotta think a majority of the blue blood schools in D1 are doing very similar things.

If anything, I'd just like to see the NCAA be consistent.

I don't think any other schools are traveling the country or even the world on a donor's dime. That's not to say the $100 handshakes and free meals don't happen at every school, cause they do, but a lavish trip to locations around the globe definitely ain't happening.

Not necessarily trips to Europe but certainly nice cars, nice shoes, maybe a nicer house for mom and/or dad, etc.

I should have been good at football.

I should have been born a boy. I have football stock in my genes and I love playing football. I bet I could've played for .. well, not Bama, but certainly a smaller high school JV team!

I too would like for someone to explain how taking exotic trips as a football team is not an extra benefit. Common sense seldom wins the day with the NCAA but Julio got caught accepting seemingly an innocent fishing trip invitation and had to pay the value of that back, this seems like more of the same.

i'd just like for them to go away.

they do nothing good for anyone...not even themselves. they're like the cop who rides a desk except for one day out of the year. then they see someone do something bad, they want to impose their "mighty power" on them, only to back off because they get scared when confronted or cornered.

basically they're a bunch of pussies with this great power who neither know how to hold it or wield it. and when they do, it makes no sense. basically they're like the U.S. government of college sports.

After Penn State and especially after UNC, I've given up trying to figure them out.

I don't understand the rules (does anybody?). But, there is obviously transparency here. There is educational value going on. I'm happy to see these kids getting more than weightlifting, running, 7-on-7 and film study in their life. We see "normal" students getting the opportunity for study abroad programs. Some how I see this as an athlete's opportunity to get a better education than what the "normal athlete" gets. If everything is on the up-and-up, I think it's great. Alabama went to the White House. How is that a permissible benefit?

An entire team is looked on differently than one, or two, or a handful of players.

In the end they got both right. Screwed up on Penn State to start but in the end they followed procedure.

Let them go for all i care. Kids that are more concerned with the Eiffel tower than learning how to properly tackle deserve Michigan. Its a distraction and a recruiting tool. But as you have seen the past few years....kids that want to travel the world go to Michigan. Kids that want to win championships and play in the NFL go to Bama. Real competitors can see through this and it has been proven on the field. Juction boys vs Mona lisa ... i think i know who will win :D
