🏈 GAME THREAD Michigan at Notre Dame

This game has the makings of a good game. Two powerhouse names in college football through the years. Pulling for the maize and blue in this one but those of you who have been on here for awhile already knew that.

What you said.
Pulling for the maize and blue

What I read.
Pulling for Harbaugh.

I'm pulling for Harbaugh and BIG BLUE. In the 80s, they were my second favorite team because I liked Schembechler so much. The allure eroded quite a bit when DIckRod took over. Harbaugh's an ass, but he's getting what he's got coming. Furthermore, I'm not going to pull for Notre Lame.
It goes deeper on this end. A lot like having respect for the Tennessee rivalry and how it changed, in tone, with Fulmer.

This game goes beyond school versus school--it's coach versus coach.

While a good Michigan team is good for college football I don't believe a Harbaugh led Michigan team is good for Michigan. It's created a culture change.

I get it. Like I said, I can't get fully behind Blue til he's gone. Still...Notre Lame, nope.

My TV itinerary on opening day:

I got Ole Miss and Texas Tech at 11:00 am CST

Then I have to juggle between Tennessee vs WV and The Barners vs Washington at the 2:30 slot.

Even if Touch Down Jesus was making a halftime appearance, I'm not missing Bama vs Lousiville at 7:00 pm.

Fortunately, LSU vs Miami is the Sunday game at 6:30 pm.

Way back when there was actually a serious discussion about who the GOAT college program was, both of these team's fan bases would always tout different stats to claim superiority over the Tide. Michigan fans - "we've won more games than anyone!"; Notre Dame fans - "we've won more NC's than anyone! Oh, and we're Notre Dame!". Most people outside of Michigan never bought into Michigan's claims because - let's face it - they didn't have the NC hardware and they played in the Big 10. But Notre Dame on the other hand had a valid claim that was hard to dispute. But that was then and the issue has been settled since Nick arrived at the Capstone. Bama IS the the GOAT program with the two GOAT coaches (eat your heart out Rockne) riding the GOAT dynasty in history and even these two fan bases can't dispute that with a serious face. I know all this has nothing to do with this game. But I just like gloating about it. :D

I do truly love seeing either of these teams lose. This will be like watching an Auburn/Tennessee game. It comes down to which team you'd most like to see lose. Yeah, those losses to ND back in the 70's were some of the most devastating losses I can remember as a Bama fan. And before 2012, I'd have to pull for Michigan. But 2012 happened and Bama's beat down of ND in the NC game set the universe right again. Plus, I kind of like what Kelly said at halftime of that game game - something about the only chance they had is if Bama didn't come out for the second half. No bitching, no moaning - just conceding the inevitable with a little humor.

So for me, it all comes down to the coaches and it's not even close. I don't hate Kelly. He knows CNS is his daddy. Harbaugh, on the other hand, is just a dick - pure and simple. Here's hoping another disappointing season or two for Harbaugh will result in him pulling an Urban Meyer and running like hell to "spend more time with his family".

Leonard's Loser (hopefully) - Michigan

I guess my first game will be those mighty Buckeyes! ABC! Dang!! both of these game will be on at the same time one on CBS the other ABC. I will flip a coin and pray that it land on it edge! But the UNC and Calif. game come on right after those two come on! I think I want to see those Tarheeds play barefooted! Louisville and Alabama no way will this be miss for any game!
