🏀 March Madness: The Final Four

Hopefully, you went Arizona. By elite 8 round, my conservative nature has fully kicked in and I go chalk.
I did. One of the few games I actually thought about was Zona vs Zags ... took Zona.

I don't think I spent more than five minutes picking this year...it's only a $10 entry on the pool so not that big of a deal, money wise. Hell, I do it for about the same reason I bet on football games in the fall--makes it a bit more interesting in my eyes. Third place pays 10% so I'd be happy if I fell there.

Everyone of my three brackets has two 16's out. Maybe if I paid a bit more attention to college basketball... (shrug!)
I don't know if that would have helped. The girl who won our pool a few years ago had her daughter pick the teams.

There's still quite a few brackets that are perfect going into today on the ESPN challenge.

Today, I'm sure will finish me off. Wisconsin has proven to be the main culprit in my bracket buster so far. They just turned my nova super, which ain't good. I lost my cinderella in MTSU and knowing Butler's recent tourney history will keep wreaking havoc. Xavier came through for me again and they really look great, unfortunately, in my shortsightedness, they got nowhere to go now on my sheet. They probably don't care.

Caveat: Football analogy coming in basketball.

How many times over the last few years have we talked about teams like LSU recruiting athletes to play quarterback instead of quarterbacks who are also athletic?

/Caveat

Anyone pay attention to the FSU game last night? I saw a lot of guys who were truly athletic for the 'Noles who were playing basketball. Xavier, on the other hand, had basketball players who were athletic.

There's the one thing I'm counting on with Johnson: a Bama basketball team moving away from recruiting athletes to play basketball and having a team of basketball players who are athletic.

I almost wrote about this. We do have a strong tendency in the past to build our teams just like FSU. I sure hope we can put some shooters on the court. They don't all have to fly through the air with the greatest of ease, but they do have to move the scoreboard. Look at ND, this is truly making a point the hard way, but they can barely keep from tripping over the center court line, but they always have shooters on that team. We need more shooters and less jumping.

Great analogy! I fussed and cussed about the inside "projects" that were signed by Grant in the past. I know you can't coach size, but damn! At least find some size that has actually seen a basketball before. I look forward to seeing what CAJ brings to T'town.

Indeed, I've seen many big, slow white guys giving us and other teams fits down low. They don't seem to jump 6-8" off the floor but have no trouble competing on the boards and they have a wide variety of ways to score. We need more basketball players.

Got to think long and hard about Shannon Hale. If he was focused and reasonable sane, that outside range could have changed the dynamics of the season, at least getting to the NCAA tourney. Back in the R-kansas's 40 minutes of hell fame, they don't win the championship without the long ball. Long range sniper Scotty Thurman hits the 3 that sealed the deal against the Dukies to win it all. Having a few Mark Gottfried's around this program sounds pretty good.
