I hope he's suspended and we beat them 56-0. The easier our path to the title, the better. All 3 crystal footballs in the past 4 seasons have taken some luck. '09 with how we beat Tenn. and '11 and '12 with how we ended up in the game with 1 loss. Those championships all count the same though. Screw Manziel. Screw A&M. Screw anyone who would whine about it. Won't bother me a bit. Just like McCoy getting hurt and UT fans playing the "what if" game... Play it to your grave fellas... I'm gonna go check out the crystal football we just won...

My thought on this is simply the NCAA, aTm, EA Sports, countless others can make scores of money off of college athletes, but if a kid decides he's charging money for his autograph it's like some sin.

I think Maziel is going to implode in some off the field issue I'm sure, but I don't agree with him being ran through the fire for charging for his autograph.

I feel the same way.

I agree the rule is stupid but the fact remains its still a rule. One that he knew full well and decided to break (if this is true).

I agree that he broke a rule that he knew was there, but college athletes are not all treated the same in the what is allowed and what isn't.

I rodeoed in high school and got a full ride two year scholly to rodeo for Tarleton State. While going to college I was able to rodeo professionally and make money that way and also have sponsors that gave benefits like paying entry fees, free gear, tickets to different things, paid for appearances during state rodeo finals, national high school finals, different western stores while also competing in college and remaining a college athlete.

So, to me it is ignorant for a college rodeo athlete to be able to do all those things and make money and receive benefits, but the. A college football athlete charge for his autograph and not be able to compete because of some stupid amatuer status thing that doesn't apply to all college athletes. If a college rodeo athlete can make all the money they want the. A college football star should be able to at least make money for his own autograph.

It seems that easy until a few questions come up.

How do you keep a booster from paying above market value for autographs?

Is a player at UCLA in a better financial position than one in Colorado? How do you justify inequality towards a school like Wake Forest?

Those are good question that I have no answer for. It just seems to me that one athlete being able to do something and another isn't is a bit ridiculous.

I too, want A/M at full strength at the QB position. I think we caught on last year - just 1 qtr too late. I don't want to hear "yea, but if we'd had Johnny, we'd have beaten you..." like the Texas Longhorn people still say today (about their QB). :lance:
Bama will be ready to play on 9/14, you can count on that. :very_drunk:
ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

I always point to the the SEC championship that year when Bama "D" took down the Gators with Heisman Tebow at the helm. QB or no QB they went or would've down. And in any case, this Texas B.S.... sour grape. Last i checked, Colt wasn't on the DEFENSE; and it's the Bama OFFENSE that took them down.

On a more thread-related note.... I hope Manziel clears anyway. We have ratings and TV sponsorship to think about!

Johnny Manziel this Johnny Manziel that...... If he plays us, I hope we shellack his Johnny Football arse. Tired of hearing about this guy. I dont care if he plays or not, but if he does I hope Bama sacks him 50 plus times. And the rest of the SEC puts a whooping on him also.

I'm tired of it all too, BUT, til something is done, he will remainin the news. I think in the end, the money trail will lead to his dropout/ flunky/ manager/ bodyguard "Uncle Nate". The loophole that allowed $cam to skate was closed and poor lil Johnny Fooseball will feel it closed around his neck.

Don't give a damn if they are playing with Fred Sanford under center. Just want to grind them into pulp. Break their spirit with a brutal mauling (note AJ's first NC win) that takes them a couple of years to get over.

A&M has hired the lawfirm that got Auburn outta the mess with Cam Newton, anybody surprised?

Smart move.

And I've seen folks compare the 2 investigations (or whatever you want to call it), but there are some differences. auburn's was pretty well thought out, planned in advance. It was set up from the start to never be able to be proven. This Manziel autograph thing doesn't seem to be that way. Looks like he was just approached one evening at an airport and things quickly unfolded. I mean he sat there and let a dude take a photo of him signing stuff? And for anyone giving him the benefit of the doubt, would any of you sit down and sign 1000 pieces of anything while taking time away from a trip to Miami, FL without compensation?

At this rate what is the odds of manziel not being suspended by the time the bama game rolls around?

Everyone would just be guessing at this point... had this happened 3 years ago, I'd say he'd be suspended for sure. Now? I'd put it at 50/50, but more will probable come out, and that will hurt him. I would imagine the NCAA has already declared him ineligible, or will soon, and a final decision won't be made until game week. If the the NCAA does determine he was paid, then I tend to think he will miss significant time. All just uneducated speculation of course...
