I think he may be making a mistake if he turns it down. I could be wrong, but I don't think his stock will be as high after next season as it is this one. AU's offense, at least IMO, will not be near as impressive next year. They lose almost their entire OL and Cam.

I dont take Malzahn as a dumbazz....if he had an opportunity to jump ship for a HC job in the SEC paying close to 3 million....and he turned it down to stay in Auburn...is interesting. Im sure Auburn came with a counter offer....but I would have most certainly expected him to leave. Maybe hes waiting on Vandy to counter Auburn now....who knows???? but this is what I find to me most curious....if he thought for an instant that Auburn could be facing NCAA sanctions in the near future, wouldnt he jump ASAP ? Just someting to think about.

thats a good point...except that they have a NC to play for and maybe hes negotiating his start date. maybe hes waiting for Texas to offer more to be the OC there. i know they wont offer what vandy is offereing but he may feel that the OC at texas is a better fit/deal to him versus the HC at vandy? just speculating

It's not like he can leave now anyways... he has a NC to play in. The allegations-- whether he knows something is coming down or not-- are not like physically pushing him to leave immediately, it's not like he knows HE HAS TO GET OUTTA HUR!! But he will leave after this year, Gus MaoZedong will not be coaching Auburn in 2011 and that leaves room for speculation on why he left... unless you wanna just believe the totally irrational suggestion that he just left because he wanted more money and a HC position in the SEC, which is obviously not what every single coach in the nation aspires to obtain...
