LSU signee Malachi Dupre says in a new video interview with NOLA.com that Alabama freshmen defensive backs Tony Brown and Marlon Humphrey "can't shut me down."
The heralded wide receiver from New Orleans, who had Alabama in his top 5before ultimately committing to LSU on National Signing Day, made the remarks about the Tide's duo of 5-star DBs in response to a question submitted by a NOLA.com reader.
"I just have to say, Tony knows he can't shut me down. Marlon knows he can't shut me down, either."
Dupre points out that he speaks to Brown and Humphrey often and that any rivalry between the players is a friendly one. Regardless, it should be interesting to watch the freshmen battle on the field this season.
But Dupre doesn't sound quite as confident when posed a question about whether LSU can "shut down" the Tide this year, pausing for several seconds before answering and choosing his words very carefully.
"I don't want to say completely shut them down. It's Alabama -- I don't think anybody's gonna shut them down, but I think we can limit them."
