Looking North to Knoxville: UT in a Football Perspective/ Preview

I’ll readily admit, it’s been a truly entertaining few weeks.

With Lane Kiffin’s comments, intentions aside, the college football world has already started looking forward to the 2009 season with special attention to games in Gainesville and Tuscaloosa.

As much fodder as there is available today (in terms of discussions of the coaching staff at Tennessee) it seems prudent to put aside the ā€œoff the field situationsā€ and look a little more in depth at what the Volunteers will bring to the playing field in the fall of this season.

While a lot of football fans want to focus on offense, I want to spend a few minutes talking about the defense and the vaunted ā€œTampa 2″ scheme the Vols will utilize. But, before getting into that subject a brief moment on the offense.

I'm anxious to see how they work the 76 yard field goal attempt into their offensive scheme. Will they employ that tactic instead of punting, and use punt coverage just in case Lincoln can't split the uprights from beyond midfield? Since the trajectory has to be a little lower on attempt like that, and since they have to be more concerned about the return, will they use any special strategies to keep the ball from ricocheting off of Mt. Cody's facemask and sailing all the way back behind their own goalline?

You need to follow your inherited family's advice and root for another team. There's your help. :D

Your school's situation is imploding already. It's only going to get worse.

Trust me...that isn't coming from my Tide point of view...you've got your major boosters already in arms. It's almost to the point of wanting Fulmer gone a few years ago.

OK, this is not mine/original...

If SEC coaches were Ipod's, Lane would be a Zen.

I think you're giving him to much credit. I think it's more like other SEC coaches are Blu Ray Players, and He's a freakin' Phonograph.
