I was thinking more along the lines of -3...though, it'll probably be there by game week.

For those interested in these sorts of things...

It'll probably migrate down to the 2-4 point range by kickoff.

I'm thinking 2.5-3. Regardless, a line I won't touch. A local bookie I know had FSU favored last year versus UK. When I learned of the upcoming suspensions in that game I called him immediately. He was shocked, until he learned as well.

i'd love to get some of that early action...

obviously i'm predicting a Bama win and a definite cover... since we never lost by more than seven under Saban and i think that clemson is a far cry from GA and LSU of last year and defensively we should be somewhat better.

i'll take those 5 all day.

I'd jump all over that, with both feet, all day long, and twice on Sunday.

Are there people out there setting lines while thinking that CNS took the year off? It looks as though they do not anticipate any improvement by Bama while Clemson would be world-beaters.

These type things are the craziness of college football. I don't even know how a line would be determined. Needless to say I'm having a tough time with the -5 but I did predict a Clemson win 20-17. First games, especially for college teams, are so unpredictable.

I know I won't be touching this one unless I get a great feeling going into the game. I never bet against Bama, only a couple of times I took them to lose but cover the spread.

OK, it's time for my yearly reminder of what exactly (+) this and (-) that means. Anyone care to be so kind? :)

A lesson that I learned in my gambling days was that early season dogs are usually the easy money.

I am very interested in those sort of things and I think it will come down too. However, I will look for the over under to be around the 48 to 54 point range and I am telling you Bama Bard's 1st LOCK OF THE YEAR is THE UNDER. With this being the first game and the new clock rules they will be lucky to put 40 up.

I was expecting Clemson to be a 7 point favorite preseason no more than 3 point favorite by game time. Honestly this game scares me. I'd be happy with an ugly last second one point win.

That wouldn't be ugly....that would be beautiful. :D

I don't know what to expect. I grew up expecting to win every game. Now I wonder about every single game (i.e. even the ULM's). :? I haven't felt confident going into a game since 1999 with Shaun running behind Samuels, but then again that's just me.

I watched 5-6 games from last year timing how long it normally took the ball to be spotted and the play clock to start. On average, it was around 15-18 seconds and then the 25 second clock.

I don't see it making a difference like the NCAA rules makers think it will.

I'm also still of the belief we'll put up more points this year than last with McElwain calling the shots.
