🏈 Les Miles On The Hot Seat

This thread is way out of character for me. Normally I worry about my team, and none of the other teams. It's kind of how I go about life too. However, every once in a while.... ;)
With my years as a paramedic, (and being married to an awesome E/R nurse) we tend to notice trends. If your blood pressure is a little low, (let's say 100/ 70) no big deal. How ever, if we re-check your pressure in 5 minutes it's 96/ 70, and five minutes later its 94/ 68...the "trend" is showing that you are going into some type of uncompensated shock. If the cause of this shock is not addressed and correct immediately, you will die.
Let's look at an interesting LSU trend. Their SEC record(s) for the past four years.
2011 8-0
2012 6-2
2013 5-3
2014 4-4
Let's add the fact that they lost the best DC that they could get their hands on. And, their QB situation is probably worse than ours.
Bottom line is this, if Les can't find an control the reason for his dwindling LSU / SEC record, the fans and backers of the Bengals will consider him the issue, and he will be gone.

Les has had inquiries from the NFL. If he were to get fired, his contract assures him of a cushy interim until his next job. The LSU fan base wants better results and if he has another 3-loss season, they won't be happy. He has a warm seat that could get hot based on performance but I think they'll give him another year if he finishes 7-5 to 9-3.

The natives Cajuns are restless in Red Stick. In all of Louisiana, for that matter. I don't think he survives with a 7-5 record this year, maybe not even 8-3. His team was very young last year and I thought there should be great improvement this year, but there is still grumbling among the players concerning Les, and he's still losing some players for various reasons, granted, mostly for criminal acts. But even that hints of a program that is not under control. Is Les becoming the Mark Richt of the West?

Less Miles has lost control of Red Stick ?

8-3? You counting on a game being cancelled?

I can see the coonasses going ballistic with another 8-4 season and fire him. LSU considers BAMA the gold standard and rightfully so. The best team in the business at recruiting not named Alabama is non other than LSU. So if they look to the northeast of Redstick and constantly see BAMA and Saban posting 10+ win seasons, they are going to nail Lesticles.

Historically LSU is a decent team but only cyclically dominant.
Les has done about what LSU averages each year. Take away his team with Saban's talent, and he's probably not there now.
Hard to please the coonies. I get the feeling that coaching LSU is like driving a train
without tracks.

I think OP is correct, but I don't think he's canned this year unless it becomes a dumpster fire of 5 wins or less.

If Les loses to Bama (this will make five in a row) he will have to win the rest of them to compensate for it. But they do return a very stout team so all they really need to do is figure out the QB situation. Sound familiar? LOL! But if they lose to Bama again this season and post an 8-4 record I suspect he's either gone or very close to it.

My wife works for a surgeon who is an lsu alum and big money booster. He and his friends are unhappy and said Les has to beat Bama to keep his job.
Can't believ I am derailing my own thread, but how old is the surgeon? When did he go through med school? Find put of he was trained under Dr. Norman McSwain.

From talking with LSU fans I know, there seems to be two schools of thought on Les.

On the negative side, you've got the folks that think he's an idiot and that they've only won games because of sheer talent and a little luck, which they could get with Gerry Dinardo again after what Saban left.

On the positive side, you've got fans that think he's the perfect fit for LSU. He's a wacky dude that coaches for a wacky fan base. I've heard the phrase "he might be an idiot but he's our idiot" multiple times.
