🏈 Kiffin would "love to be back" at Alabama

Some really good quotes in the article. Wording is interesting though in that it appears nothing has been determined yet in regards to his future.

"I had 32 questions that I had written out for him and was there taking notes while he's sitting there in his chair," Kiffin recalled. "He was at his lake house, and he flew back and we sat there for three or four hours, and he answered all the questions. People don't understand that about him. He is about helping coaches grow. He is about helping coaches get new jobs and improving."

Yeah, I kinda figured, unless someone gave him a no-brainer offer, he would want to come back for at least one more year. One more year learning how to be a HC and the chance to stick it to USC in next years opener.

His contract is still valid so no steps have to take place for him to return. Sounds like he is enjoying learning what he didn't know and he knows it will make him a better HC candidate in the future.

I know I said I was told he was gone, but after Kirby took Georgia, I would not be surprised at all if Kiffin waited for the Alabama job. Sounds crszy, but if he put five years in and won over the administration and recruited well, he could be setting himself up for anything better than he could have imagined. Yes, to some the NFL is where it's at and I think his goal was there at one point, but he could be seeing how great Saban has it and realizes that's what he could want more than being on the chopping block all the time in the cut throat NFL.

I would like to see him stay for one more, maybe two. I think Coach Saban just know how to get these coaches prepare for another coaching job. Just like some other Coach we all know and Love here at Bama.

I just can't see it!

David Shaw or D'Antonio would make more sense IMO

I don't see it either. IMO, the next coach at Alabama isn't on the radar yet. Kirby isn't going to leave his alma matar for Alabama. The next coach, when we look back on his hiring day, will be someone who "I never thought he would be the one."

At 64, we can begin to speculate on the next Bama HC. Personally, I think we are two or three years away from this event. Should Kiffin hang around he could be in the mix, and if structural interference continues at Uga I think Kirby stays in the mix.

RTR,

Tim

It was two different articles.... The one I posted was an ESPN article. The one that mods merged my thread with is a Houston Chronicle article. Still not sure why it was done but it was

The link you put in the earlier post linked Rickey's earlier thread; it didn't go to a Houston article.

I edited that personally all the while trying to figure out why you'd start a thread linking another thread on the same forum. I know something was wrong ... but had no clue what. N.O.N.E.

And you may still be confused... Otherwise we wouldn't have my thread title with Ricky's original post and link that have no connection whatsoever.

Poor Ricky's thread got crapped on.

You guys are talking like CNS is realistically done in 2 or 3 years. However, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he stays until his 70's much like Bobby Bowden who made it till 80...

Wouldn't surprise me one bit & I am just fine with that too!

Really tough to read Saban at times. In recent articles he's made it seem like this could be the case... In other articles he and Ms. Terry sometimes sound like they feel unappreciated.

It's a damn stressful job, that's for sure. He deals with it ridiculously well though
