| FTBL Kenny Stabler arrested for DUI

Robertsdale - Worst policemen ever (not condoning what he did).

It's like golf where you have illegal pins... r-dale having speeding zones that go from 55-45-35-25 in 30 feet should be illegal.

When I first saw the story late last night, I said to myself it is hard enough to drive though Loxley, Robertsdale, and Summerdale sober without being pulled over, so it is the absolute worst route to try to drive when inebriated.

Like I said earlier, I made that drive Friday night and the boys in blue were out in droves.

It is a damn shame that he can't stay on the straight and narrow. You could not ever meet a nicer more cordial person, but his issues with drinking have really left a tarnish on his legacy. I have zero sympathy for anyone who gets nailed with a DUI, much less 3. That should be a mandatory 12 months in the pen, IMO. What a shame...

12 months in the pen? What about the guy that blows .001 over the limit. 12 months in the pen is a little harsh and borderline psychotic.

If you get your 3rd DUI, I don't care what % you are blowing. I can think of very few things more irresponsible than driving a vehicle while drunk.

After 3 I definitely understand. I was talking about just getting 1 really. It's still terrible but I hate when your average person has a few and gets popped and they are sober enough to drive.

Yea, I was talking about a third offense. A strike 3 law if you will.

For those supporters of Stabler continuing, I've got to ask--If this were the 3rd DUI for an Alabama football player, would he remain on the team? I'm thinking not.

Stabler has had two previous DUIs, seven and thirteen years ago. He would have exhausted his eligibility before his second DUI. In tennessee, however, you can have five alcohol offenses and remain on the team.

I guess for my first post on this board, since I live in Knoxville, got an appropriate response. My father played and coached at Bama in the late 20's/early 30's. My wife is from Hueytown, Ala and we've been season ticket holders for almost 30 years. Work brought us to East Tennessee, which isn't a bad place to live except for all those UT people. I thought Fla Gators were bad when we lived down there, but these guys are more obnoxious. 41-14 has made this past year sweet however.

All that said, I've met Snake on several occassions and think he's a good guy and even better commentator. My thought is though he is a representative of UA. In fact, he's technically employed by the University and I think behavior like this should be addressed. I only asked my original question to consider if some would feel differently if it happened to a player, or even a coach, or even worse a professor. They all represent the University of Alabama.

And lastly, thanks for the link but I get the Knoxville News and had read all about this guy getting "5 strikes" and he's still gonna play next season. We can't compare ourselves with Fulmer and his uneven, inconsistent methods of punishment. We're better than that!

Sorry for the long post. I'm normally much more short and to the point.

Let me add my welcome to the site as well. Glad you're here.

RTR,

Tim

I apologize, I did not see your post earlier, and you are absolutely correct. I think Loxley, Summerdale, Elberta, and Robertsdale are always near the top of tickets in the state. If it is even believable the Marine Police are worse.

The problem for locals is once you get south of I-10 they dont want to bust as many tourists but with so many people coming through they are on the hunt all day, every day.

Listening to the radio this morning and someone made a good point.. Seems like the comments made by Witt and Moore leave the door wide open for Snake to step down and get the help he needs rather than being fired.

My prediction is he is fired but rather than coming out and saying that, he is "stepping down and seeking the help he needs".

They have several place around Aubruns campus with the same exact speed traps.....and yes it is wrong.

I'm actually with you on that, but as long as the speed limit change is no more than 10mph per change, it's legal. I'm from Oneonta and they are having a big deal here about that because in a couple of places here, the speed drops from 50 strait to 35. The police chief even told the city council that he told his officers to give the people a little break if they're caught speeding a little through there because he said the speed change from 50 to 35 is illegal to begin with.

If Kenny ends up gone, I'll sure miss him. I loved hearing him say crazy things like the time he was talking about our defense a few years back when someone attempted to bring down a rather big back... "Looked like an old banty rooster getting run over by a pick up."

Driving from FL through Bama - I have to wonder if the police force has anything else on their minds but traffic. Seriously, there is a little bit of a power trip going on there sometimes as well.

Kenny's problem started a long time ago. He called the Raider's mediciine chest the candy jar. It'll be a big fix if it's more than alcohol.

Another name I thought to replace Kenny as the color guy IF he does not return to the booth.

Barry Krauss. He currently does the sideline reporting, and he is also part of the Colts' radio broadcast team.

This really did frustrate me. I met Snake three years ago at an autograph session we had at work and spent the day with him. I have never met anyone as nice as Snake. The man has an encyclopedic memory of everything that has happend in his career. People would bring him pictures and various prints to sign and he could tell you the play the shot was taken from the result of that play and what the final score of the game was. His stories about his time with Coach Madden were truly a joy to hear (including the yellow smiley face sticker if anyone else if familiar). He just can't resist the urge to "live like a rockstar." I would've much rather the train wreck that we saw with Joe Willie several years back repeat itself than Snake put people in danger doing something stupid.
