šŸ€ Jax State beat Bama 92-66 in a basketball scrimmage on Saturday

Not good.......

quote:
Per NCAA rules, media were not allowed to view the scrimmage and Alabama was not allowed to release statistics. The News obtained game statistics from an individual not affiliated with UA.

The Crimson Tide used 11 different players, with none playing more than 26 minutes as Coach Avery Johnson clearly experimented with different combinations. But UA shot poorly (21 of 55) and committed 25 turnovers, numbers that stood out even with fluctuating lineups.

We'll all going to learn a lot about our basketball program right out of the gate. With Sexton and Braxton Key out of the mix, you just hope that depth and good chemistry could get us to the next level of SEC respectability.

Work on things that will be important later
It was a controlled, situational scrimmage also known as "working on things that will be important later."

Wish i would have said that....lol
I've read a portion of the scrimmage was only half court. I can't speak one way or another to its veracity, but it does fit with what they've done the last few years.

The only difference I've seen is someone leaded the stats from a secret scrimmage. Who did it is my question.

I don't believe it was a Avery fan.......just saying. Huge year coming for Coach Johnson. He doesn't have to win a championship but he can't afford for the team to regress...(too far).

You may be right. I can't say one way or another.

It did remind me a bit of Saban's last presser when one of the beat writers asked about how Jonah graded out. Did you see the look Saban shot at Jeff? He wasn't too pleased those reports were "leaked," and I'd hardly call JP, "not a Saban fan."

I've already seen some of the extreme basketball fanatics calling for an 8-10 win season and Avery is gone. I have no idea what they're smoking, but all indications are it's of the "Spice" variety.

It's going to be a tough conference swing this season.

(Say what you will about Sankey...was a really good move of his to bring in Mike Tranghese to advise the conference on basketball. It appears to be paying big dividends.)

The SEC has seriously upgraded the coaching and talent level in this league. Being as good as last year won't be good enough. Tennessee may have a better team and yet is probably going to get run over by a much better Kentucky team. I wonder if we are going uptempo as much with this group and my guess is that defense will have to be the difference again if we're going to surprise some people.

Ten Bears tells me his group has Bama with a losing record for this season. I tend to agree.
Crazy thing is even if this ends up being true it's not a sign of regression.

And, I don't see that happening. As I recall there were only two teams that had a record of less than .500 last season (Bama was 0-2 against them as well IIRC.)
