📝 January Recruiting

It's a late offer.

Come signing day and we may be able to continue these thoughts with a "TFW" the name Julius ...

Anyway, late offer ... hrrm.

Julius Irvin on Hudl

Yes Please! Dude has great speed and looks super fluid in coverage. I know Saban may not be excited that he turns his head around to find the ball - but it works well for him in the highlight clip.

Would he be a corner or safety prospect? Either way looks like a good DB!

He's being recruited as a safety. I'm curious how he's (CNS) going to play the numbers. Another blue shirt? Or is it a case of 'Peter is dead, let's give everything to Paul...give Mary a little less of a share.' There's shuffling in that back seven.

I'm not familiar with a blue shirt... Is that a mid season enrollee?

He's a big time prospect, I'm sure the west coast is all over him. Any type of delayed enrollment seems like a long shot, but hell it worked with Parks.

Speaking of Parks - Will he start at DE or OLB? I'm hoping DE. Get him on the weights and protien and turn him into Jon Allen!

From the start, it's someone they haven't been officially recruiting. It's one of the only ways I could think of a LB might show up. Speculating, nothing more. There's one coming in now.

DE is what I remember...mind a bit shot today.

R. Davis??? I think at this point, most people believe Quay is gone, whether it be to Georgia or Tennessee.

I have to wonder how much the staff wants Walker. I saw him play in the playoffs at his home stadium. He is popular. The other team mostly ran away from him but his effort was poor- he didn't pursue, and he didn't hit hard. His team toasted the other team. On offense, he caught a pass at the 20, and made one guy miss. As he headed to the end zone for an easy TD, the opposing safety was trying to get to him. Instead of scoring he turned, waited for him, squared up, and jacked the safety as hard as he could, then 'walked' in. Then he motioned to the crowd for applause as he went to the sideline.

I wasn't impressed, and thought it was very much thug behavior. I know he is the 13th best prospect in GA and the 7th best outside linebacker according to Rivals. I also realize that we don't have a lot of LB prospects and that our staff can take the thug out of a young man and make him a class act and a good player, but just from what I saw, I'd say - pass! So to me, if he's gone, then be GONE!

Per Andrew Bone:
Just a few things I’ve heard about the weeekend so far...

Justyn Ross and his family having a fantastic time. A few have said they have never seen him engage with coaches or players like this in the past. Loving every bit of the visit.

Patrick Surtain and Tyson Campbell also having a ball this weekend. Both of their families have loved it. Who knows what may happen, but Bama has made up a lot of ground with Campbell. Bama may lead for Surtain.

Nick Petit-Frere and his mom have been having a blast throughout the weekend. Alabama has a very strong feeling about him joining this class.

Quay Walker and JJ Peterson have been wearing Bama gear throughout the weekend. Both having a great time.

Alabama rolled out red, championship carpet for these guys this weekend. There is a reason Alabama is considered one of the best if not the best in the country when it comes to recruiting the top players in the country. This weekend was incredible A lot of movement with top guys.

Everyone is heading to Coach Saban’s house for breakfast.

Malik Langham

, three-star defensive end from Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama, was one of several visitors in Tuscaloosa this weekend. Langham and his family enjoyed the trip as Alabama celebrated its 7th national championship.
“It was good,” said Langham. "My parents and twin sister went down. They liked it. I got to spend time with the coaches and see some parts of the campus I haven't seen before.

"Everything to me stood out. The food was good. My favorite meal was dinner on Saturday night in the stadium. We had beef sirloin, shrimp, wings and baked potatoes.

“My host was Quinnen Williams. That was good. He told me Bama gets you ready for life outside of football and for football. I hung out with LaBryan (Ray) a little bit too. He was just telling me to make the best choice for you.

“It was good seeing how the fans turned out for the championship parade. They raised the trophy. It made me want to be a part of it."

Langham received an offer from the University of Alabama in December.

"I spent the most time with Coach Dunbar and Coach Lupoi, " he said. "Coach Dunbar just saying they want me here. He said I have the opportunity to come in and play. I have to work for it though. It's not given.

“Coach Saban reinforced everything. They really want me there. He is going to play the best players regardless if they are freshmen or not. He is a great person. He is a tremendous football coach. One of the best that ever lived.

"He is a real genuine guy outside of football. It was good going over to his house today. I hung out with the recruits. We drove some golf carts and saw shot some hoops."

Alabama is in the lead for the in-state prospect after the trip to Tuscaloosa. He will take his final visits before making a decision. He will visit Florida on January 26 and Tennessee on February 2.

"Everything stands out to me," Langham said. "They are the top program in college football. I just really like the connections they have. They are definitely on top.

"Just everything stands out to me. It's a wonderful program. They also have Coach Saban."

Per Andrew Bone:

Taiyon Palmer, three-star cornerback from Archer High School in Lawrenceville, Georgia, reported on Sunday night a new offer from Alabama.

This is in no way an indication on how things went with Patrick Surtain or Tyson Campbell this weekend.

Palmer received the offer from Brent Key. This is simply a back-up offer at this time. He can not commit.

Alabama doesn't know for a 100-percent fact what will happen with some of these guys between now and signing day. You have to have a back-up option.

Josh Jacobs was a back-up option a few years ago. Alabama was pushing hard for some other guys. Alabama did not know until a few days before NSD and decided to give Jacobs a green light to commit.

Being so close to the real NSD. I wonder if we will get any info or commitments before announcement. It seems like the guys who were not wanting to do the NSD spectacle have already signed so the only two left are the Premadonna's and the tweeners who are hoping to receive a better offer than what they have.

It sounds like the weekend went well, having whole family's there makes it seem like there is a real chance with some of these guys but would love to hear some fireworks and get a string of high profile commits to start the train rolling down hill to NSD.
