📝 January Recruiting

So are you saying Walker is probably joining Peterson at u cheat? If canceling visit to UGA.....?
I think Walker is not signing with Bama.
I'm guessing it was back in December when we started suggesting people forget Walker with this class. I know it was before the ESD so it may have been as early as November. At that point I was beginning to wonder if we'd see an ILB in this class, period. I'd say that's been answered with the offer extended to Jaylen Moody--Bama wants at least one if the numbers will fit. Losing Peterson and Walker would make room. (On a side note, Moody is another one of those "sleepers." He received his first ranking {Rivals} after they learned of his visit to Ole Miss. There were also questions about his qualifying which looks to have been resolved.)

Moody's interest in Arkansas is real and there's a team to watch. While we criticize a lot about John Chavis his name and rep still carries a lot of weight.

That said, there's something really weird about Walker's recruitment. I've entertained the thought--and seen a few others say something similar--if there's a qualification issue or something related to that. Something...just doesn't sit right with my logic meter. We've talked about UT being in the picture and we've discussed UGA a few times. I've learned Auburn is a team that's making a late push as well.

I'm not suggesting everyone stop and look to the horizon to see if there are black helicopters circling. Again, it's just a weird story but one that isn't real shocking in the recruiting world of 2018.

If this was about just Georgia you could get your arms around some of these moves he's been making. For a guy that has been a commit for a while, all this movement isn't making a lot of sense at this point. He's flitting about like a butterfly in springtime and it's starting to feel like more than just cold feet. But I have come to firmly believe, if your head is not screwed on tight, less is more.

Any insecurities are easily exploited when recruiting against Alabama. Only the Alpha's are immune to the 'you won't see the field for 2-3 years if you go there'. Kid seems insecure to me. If/when Walker jumps ship, I think we will be ok.

Long, winding road coming to an end for Petit-Frere

Since the very beginning of the 2018 recruiting process Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep five-star offensive tackle

Nick Petit-Frere

has mostly stayed out of the recruiting spotlight when possible, instead deferring to his high school football coach Dominick Ciao when comes to updating his status.
That was the case this past weekend when upon leaving his Florida official visit, he declined an interview request from Inside the Gators.

Ciao spoke with both Petit-Frere and his mother after the visit and was told that they enjoyed the experience.

“They told me they had a wonderful time,” said Ciao. “I can't give you any specifics other than he had a great time and got to talk to the coaches and players.”

With Petit-Frere himself not naming a leader or providing a leaderboard at any point throughout the entire process, it has led to plenty of speculation and rumors.

Having heard some of them himself, Ciao cleared the air somewhat on Tuesday afternoon.

“Let me help you here,” said Ciao. “There is no, 'He's leaning here or not going there.' There are no secrets here with him, he has five schools, the schools he is officially visiting, Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama, Florida and Ohio State this weekend. No one has been cut, he is still assessing all the schools with no leader. That's where he is right now. That's the story.

“I see the talk out there, but it's talk. After every visit I talk to him and his mom - we go over where everything stands. I am telling you, he doesn't have a leader and he's not eliminated any of the five he has visited. We're not going to allow coaches to continue to spend their time recruiting him if they aren't a real option, if they aren't still in it.”

Alabama visited with Petit-Frere on Monday. Florida, Michigan and Ohio State are due in Wednesday.

Ciao said that after the final visit this weekend they will come to a decision and let teams know before Signing Day where they stand.

"There's not going to be a big production, he'll let coaches know, and then sign."

I can't wrap my head around why he hasn't just decommited. Apparently the secret is out of the bag, for a while now. It makes zero sense to me unless he is geniunly still unsure. Or could it in fact be a grade issue where it could come down to the end and he doesn't want to lose his spot in a limited class? In that case the worst scenario is he atleast has his spot still, cause if he bolts it will get taken in .2.

Here's who I think Bama gets on NSD .... based on what I have been told.

QB - Brock Purdy or Brevin White
WR - Justyn Ross
WR - Jaylen Waddle
DT - Bobby Brown
DE - Malik Langham
LB - Jaylen Moody
LB - Vernon Jackson
CB - Patrick Surtain
CB - Eddie Smith
CB - Isaac Taylor-Stuart
OT - Nicholas Petit-Frere

First of all, I'm going to copy this over to another thread in the next day or two that's centered on the class itself, etc.

A little edit here:

Currently committed:

That's 11 for those counting. Tell me how you're seeing that work out if we're looking at eight more spots. You're three over.

We have 14 signed from the ESD and 4 commits. It is pretty much a given that Walker and likely Jackson aren't coming. The commits are DL Brown, ILB Walker, ILB Jackson, and TE Parker. If we count Parker as a bluershirt, I can see us finishing like this with the '18 class.

DB- Surtain, ITS, and Smith- any combination of the 6 we are recruiting to go with those signed= HUGE DB HAUL
WR- Ross and Waddle- WOW!!! Add these guys with last years group+ Williams and Bolden in this class
DL- Langham and commit Brown - NICE additions to Barmore ( 6'5" 290) and Wynn ( 6'4" 308)
OL- NPF or Sewell ( thinking NPF because Sewell just seems so torn between where he wants to go)- the '19 class is LOADED with in state BIG UGLIES and we possibly clean house with all of them ( Quick, Kight, and Webb)!!! Add with Ekiyor and Tommy Brown
QB- Purdy- under the radar kid who suffered mono before his junior year and was late to the recruiting scene. NICE backup
ILB- Moody- late offer, diamond in the rough
