🏈 Jalen or Tua? Bobby Bowden says 'Nick can't go wrong'

And why is there an argument about a play that resulted in a touchdown......

Because the notion that Jalen made a good play kills certain people entire agenda. We've seen a very vocal portion of this fan base demanding Tua be No. 1 since the very minute he walked onto campus (and especially sine the 2017 A-Day). Those people will never, ever let that go no matter what and God forbid if Jalen DOES end up being named starter. We've already seen experts on here claiming that it will prove that arguably the greatest coach in the history of college football is "out of touch" (less than a year after winning a national championship mind you).

Stop implying people have a personal vendetta against Jalen. Even suggesting that is poor taste, and false.

Meanwhile you seem to have a problem calling a spade a spade. Is Tom Brady better than Hurts, or is that my opinion ? You really think Jalen is a quarterback ? I like Jalen. I care about Jalen. I'm telling you from the bottom of my heart in all seriousness if Jalen was my son I would have him changing positions because any level headed person can see he lacks the required skill set to play QB in the NFL.

Did you watch the videos I supplied for you ? He's awful at QB. His athleticism has more than covered for a lot of shortcomings at the QB position.

You dont get to do that. You dont get to play victim and claim that you don't have something against Jalen and then turn right around say some unbelievable ignorant nonsense like "do you really think Jalen is a QB?" You have the nerve to claim you aren't bias. Actually, I blame every single person (myself include) that has lowered themselves to arguing with you about this. Stop feeding trolls.

What ? Lol... dude yo ass is crazy as hell.
People are trying to talk a little football, and you're in here getting your feelings hurt over a QB discussion.

Relax a little. You taking this shit too seriously. If you're taking this so poorly now I hate to see how you're going to hold up once fall camp starts, and word starts to get out about how much better the O runs with Tua at the helm.

And your LCB post falls on def ears when you watch the video and see the LCB is on the OUTSIDE of our other receiver, meaning our other receiver is basically boxing him out despite the fact that he's far as hell away anyway.

You need to quit. Another picture showing where you're missing the point in your response to the crossing corner. A lofted pass there is defended easily. He's not boxed out. He's literally about to cross routes with Jalen and that's how he ends up being so open in the back, right corner.

The difference between your picture and the one 12gage posted is a matter of seconds. Your's is just before he's back farther. That's (your pic) the safety on the 7 yard line and this is one where he's on the 10 as he's falling back in coverage.

You literally have picture proof here and you're still denying it happened.

And all of this is why I say Jalen is not getting a fair shake. You're taking a successful play, being shown how it broke down, and still denying what you're actually seeing.

There may be a few that actually hold a vendetta against Jalen. Personally, I can't say that I've seen one. (Sure there' s a chance I simply missed the intent.)

There is no question that people are framing arguments for one QB over another and embellishing their reasonings, using plays in attempts to prove points with little to no foundation, and a host of other ways to support their desire to see Tua vs Jalen. In a sense it's much like today's society.

Society: We want to to be who you are, act how you see fit.
Society: No. Not that way.

Reminds me of so many people banging on Holcombe after MSU without giving any credence to the fact he was held together with screws and duct tape, playing in a inordinate amount of pain, all the while fighting his diabetes.

What really strikes me as funny is this...

Jalen waits and in the end we see a TD. He chose not to throw the ball in a tight window with Clemson in pass coverage...waiting for the play to develop and the Tide scores.

BUT, it's proof he's ...

(One more note: I still don't get why people consider this an argument. To me, this is a legit conversation about a single play with ample proof from a lot here. )

Not sure if Jalen is cutting your grass this summer but your logic would never make a jury trial. If I needed an unbias expert witness, I'd call ESPN's Todd Blackledge to the stand, who I repeat, had no dog in the fight. His credentials as an All-American QB himself and a football guy that has been analyzing football plays for decades and making millions doing it was that the ball should have been thrown to Ridley on the first break. And he certainly wasn't shy in saying so as he broke the play down in slow motion and stop action. Seeing and believing is always more difficult when you keep leading with your heart.

I caught that comment earlier and thought it had been addressed--or it was just a rhetorical comment.

Blackledge made that comment within seconds of the play. He may, or may not, say the same thing today when he broke down the film. Dunno. Off the cuff observations during live action of games is very often wrong. We see that each and every week. What we're discussing here isn't spur of the moment comments but actual still shots showing what he was seeing and how the play was progressing.

It's a bit ironic that we're being encouraged to go with what was said at that specific moment yet we've heard Saban say, countless times, wait 'til we break down the film. If that's not proof things are missed in live action I don't what would be.

Since you want to bring this is a court like setting, here's my summation.

No passing lanes. Proven, documented.
Linebackers dropping back in coverage. Proven, documented.
Crossing corner. Proven, documented.
Good decision. Proven, documented and evidence by six on the board.

I could actually sit down and break this down frame-by-frame. I realize @Tidestalker might consider this to be too technologically advanced (even though Print Screen and Windows Paint as been available since IBM sold the 286. :poke2:) BUT, I've been working with software like that all night at work and don't want to bring it up, again.

So, in closing, your honor :naughtydevil: ...

And just for the hell of it ...

One thing that hasn't been discussed is the route Calvin is running here. Bama's 'DaBoll offense' often featured trips with a featured receiver running a choice package. (Kiffin's did as well and it was a bit of a carryover combined with some NE principles.) We don't know what was called with CR. It easily could have been his choice for an out route, a corner, or post. He ran a post route. IF that was the case and it was Calvin's choice Jalen, or Tua, wouldn't have known until the break.

Blackledge made that comment within seconds of the play.

No, he didn't. He didn't say anything about it on the first replay. They kicked the extra point and went to commercial break and when they went live again he broke the play down in specifics on the second complete replay. That gave him plenty of time to analyze the action and show the world what went wrong. And according to Todd, wrong it went.

In closing, I too would like to suggest for future reference, it's going to be a lot easier, and actually, meet with much more success when you try to dissuade folks based on what they hear and appreciate the odds go up dramatically when you attempt to talk people out of what they see.

#2's Father knows his son has a lack of confidence in passing decisions. It DID NOT start at Alabama and it is NOT going to be resolved at Alabama. This isn't personal. What is the door number of the SJW meeting room? Asking for a friend of course.

I need to quit?! Sorry Terry... You (and 12) got exposed on this and it's blatantly obvious. Editing in some arrows pretending to make it look like coverage was where it wasn't is what got you in trouble.

And by the time my picture is up, the ball should have been let go. And even if it wasn't he's still wide ass open. A confident QB is going to anticipate his 1st round receiver that is behind flat footed LB's/safety is going to continue to out run them. That's right, flat footed! Not dropping into coverage. And once again, the LCB is outside of Foster. Even if Jalen throws a terribly late and inaccurate pass (because the ball should have been in the air by now) to the top of the "B", Ridley is beating him there.

I'm sure you can find something to feel sorry for Jalen about on this board, but picking this scab isn't a good one. But at least you helped me up my technology game! I can use this in the future.

What I find amazing is that folks don't (or didn't) know how to generate a screen shot in 2018...

No kidding! Talk about embarrassing! :five:
Have you ever wondered what that key labeled "Print Screen" might do?

FWIW, Snipping tool works great and it's built into Windows later versions. I want to say it was stock when they released Win Vista. It's been around under different names since '01 or '02.

NOW, back in the '90's...I thought everyone knew Win Key + PrtSc, MS Paint > Ctrl V ... did the same thing.

And, for your PSA, Snag-It is what I have on my home PC's and I use it, occasionally, at work. I won't tell you how...but I will tell you that it's possible to download the program, find a security key online, and use it as much as you'd like...wouldn't want to promote piracy or anything of its ilk (said as I'm looking over someone else's code in an template modification and "adjusting it to fit.")
