🏈 Jalen or Tua? Bobby Bowden says 'Nick can't go wrong'

Through all of this QB debate that has raged for two years now I've never understood all the emotion involved with the conversation.
BTW, I've yet to feel an emotional response to just about every opinion I've read. Well, I've seen a few really bad opinions that left me shaking my head. But seriously, no emotional attachment to either one.

I dont have to tell you those stats are inflated, and I dont have to tell you what the numbers look like when we shine a spotlight where it matters.

You're too smart for that.

I dont have to tell you those stats are inflated,
If I'm as smart as you believe I am, why am I seeing more TD's and fewer INT's as improvement?

I'm guessing any football fan would see those numbers and say, "better." How does one inflated lower interceptions? How does one inflate the number of touchdowns thrown when he threw more touchdowns?

The only thing I can see that's inflated is the yardage numbers from '16 which was due to the type of passing routes under Kiffin. Yet, that's easily accounted for when you see fewer attempts--a direct result from moving away from Kiffin and to Daboll.

I'm certainly not trying to be argumentative with you, @T&B I can't agree with you on improvement. We're literally two months removed from the man himself saying he's improved--specifically pointing out things like the decisions he has been making.

Why are we still talking about how he may progress ? That was a conversation for last year.
That's already answered in this thread. This is the first year he's had an dedicated quarterback coach. (Coming from a guy that's not that overly impressed with Enos to date.)
I watched his progression... he went backwards. That is how he progressed.

QBR: Improved
TD's: Improved
INT's: Improved

There's roughly a 2 percentage point difference in completions which is a direct result in having a new coordinator and a new offensive scheme. That resulted in fewer yards, fewer attempts and fewer completions. (That's as a team and Jalen alone.)

So, what we have here ... fewer interceptions, more touchdowns, and a better QB rating but that's him going backwards, regressing?

BTW, conversely, we also saw fewer rushing attempts last season with better results.

I think T&B and I subscribe to the fact that there are games and then there are BIG GAMES.... Meaning Bama can roll out any competent college QB can win "games" at alabama with the talent and depth at every other position.... But the BIG GAMES are when the QB's true abilities are exposed. You can point to the season stats, but at this point in the dominant nature of Alabama football, the job comes down to can he get it done in the BIG GAMES?

There's been a nice sample size (see stats on previous page) that says it doesn't matter what he does in the regular season, because in the playoffs he has not played productive football... Trying to be nice. Unless of course you value a stat line vs Chattanooga the same as you value the line vs Georgia/Clemson/Auburn, etc. At that point we just disagree

Context regarding the Clemson game... Jalen was 16-24 for 120 yards and 2 TD's. 1 of those TD's was to D. Payne, and the D absolutely dominated Clemson that night, including the fact they outscored Clemson by themselves. So no, I'm not that impressed with what Jalen did that night.
That's so short sighted.

Jalen hit Calvin for a 13 yard gain before Payne's TD and it was a 13 yard pass completing inside the 15 yard line. QB's always say that's the hardest area to complete passes.

He's not being treated fairly by a lot of fans.

There is most certainly a QB competition.

I promise you there isn't. You can believe those garbage articles all you want to.

How many practices you been to?

Don't you love how he discredited one of Jalen's TDs because it was to Payne, too. Like, what sense does that even make?

OH MY GOODNESS HE HIT CALVIN FOR A 13 YARDER?! Now that's impressive. :five:

Sorry, had to be a smart ass. Just funny to me that a QB at this level isn't expected to do that regularly... But whatevs. Props on the yardage.

Most importantly he's been treated plenty fairly by Nick Saban... Maybe so fairly its been unfairly... Because he's expected to do things he's not comfortable doing.

Hoping he gets to play more in his comfort zone next fall! RTR

It took a trick play... Serious deception... For Jalen to get throw the short TD pass. No way Saban would have let him spread the D out, read a coverage, and throw it on his own.
