💬 It's never a bad time to laugh at Tennessee, so I'll leave this here without comment.

UT chancellor Davenport tweet this week is the latest to continue Tennessee staff's tone deaf assault about ongoing championships of one kind or another.

On Monday Davenport deleted a Tweet originally posted Saturday encouraging people to come to Neyland Stadium Wednesday morning to "be a part of another Tennessee championship"

Diehard Vols fans appeared altogether unimpressed over the weekend with Davenport's conflation of the frivolous world record attempt with winning a championship — a serious matter in Big Orange Country. Many also took issue with the use of the word "another" when the school's football team hasn't won an SEC or national championship since 1998.

The new tweet doesn't appear to be enough to satisfy fans, with some imploring her to "stop talking about this" and saying "you're only making it worse."
@cowboymullet@ChancellorDav Please, for the love of God, stop talking about this. You deleted the other tweet only to make this one. Stop.

Some also referenced UT football coach Butch Jones' now-infamous statement last fall that his players were "champions of life" after they didn't win the SEC East championship. "Now you've trumped up a "champions of life" stunt. Ur in way over your head," tweeted one user.
@ChancellorDav first you called alumni stupid, now you've trumped up a "champions of life" stunt. Ur in way over your head. No $ from me.

This is the second time Davenport's tweets have generated criticism since she took office Feb. 15. During her first week as Chancellor, she misquoted the Vols slogan in a tweet that said, "I will give my all to Tennessee today and always." The correct slogan, which Vol football players slap on their way to the field on game day, is "I will give my all for Tennessee today."
