Over the last several years a lot of people complained about Verne Lundquist and his football play by play coverage. The majority of the complaints revolved around missing players names.

Over the last several years I've defended Verne citing how well he performs his duties on the course. Take a minute today and listen to how little he speaks when covering his area. He lets the play speak for itself...something we don't see/hear often in today's sports world.

I think this has something to do with the QUIET requirement in golf.

Last year in the US Open thread we were talking about the conditions and the players complaining about the speed of the greens. Unfair was a word we heard tossed about a lot.

Now we're watching the Masters and the greens are just as firm, just as mean, and just as unforgiving. BUT, it's not unfair. It's the course winning, "beating up the players."

Wherein lies the difference?

With the players I'd say the same respect should be held for the USGA. They serve their role.

I wonder if the media frames their questions differently at the two events. It would lead to different responses.

Wiesberger lit it up this a.m. with a -6....in the clubhouse at -4. Finau and Fleetwood righting the ship from yesterday with -4 so far today with both currently at -2 for the tournament.... JT doing better with a -2 for the round so far and -1 for the tournament. Rose's wheels wobbling a little after a big round yesterday (-7) standing at +3 for the round, but still at the top at -4. Leishman at the top also with a -4.
