🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 It’s a bit nipply out this Monday morning.

This has become a wild card thread. Viewer discretion is advised.
Up on the right side ... three dots horizontally. "User reply ban" or something like that.

I wonder if we should, call it foresight, add @PurlJam before he sees the way this is going?

I've given myself seven hours to discount the 24 reasons I want to do it with someone else.

4 years ago my neighbor asked me if I’d been seeing any black widows. Told him no. Apparently he’d seen several in his garage (which isn’t messy). He had the exterminator come out and take care of it. The next year, I saw my first one in the back yard by the pool. Within a few weeks, I’d killed about 6 of them. The next year, I killed probably 8-10. This year, didn’t see a single one. Never have seen one in the house. But they love being around the pool equipment.
No, no, no!!! We need to stop this damn thread!!!! I’m damn near pissin myself right now!

With my dad a contractor, and a brick mason by trade, I was always moving brick and block stacks. He might have a cube of bricks sitting for years, and then say, "I need 200 brick from this cube", and away I go. They love extremely dark places, and the holes in brick and the cells in blocks are perfect for them. I've been dodging those little witches all my life. I've never seen one in a house, either. Garages, yes - in a brick stack.

Well that makes my theory even more solid then. Both years I killed multiple black widows on the back side of the waterfall feature which is made of stone on the outside, but inside is mostly hollowed out other than the concrete blocks that were used to as the skeleton. My theory was/is they were breeding inside where it was cool and damp.

I’d find some in other areas too, like a covered electrical outlet, under chairs, under those plastic storage boxes, and near the pool pump. But probably half the ones I saw were always at the bottom of the water feature close to the pavers. Damn things.

When I lived down in Daphne we used to get the occasional brown recluse. One got my mom on the leg one time. I got no use for them either but haven’t seen one in many years.

Now, I’ve had many encounters with snakes while growing up in the great state of Ala bama but never got bit:
My Doberman and I met a timber rattler once and as big as they are, they’re fast.
Chased a black racer and was chased by one.
Went on rattlesnake hunts
While staking a trot line down a moccasin fell between my legs
Played with many garter snakes
Friend had a ball python as a freakin pet
Held a baby Michigan rattlesnake I found in the yard

Not afraid of snakes, just respectful, but the smallest spider will freak me right the heck out!
