šŸ’¬ In light of the recent tragedies ... Comfortable w/ SEC athletes protesting/demonstrating like seen?

Almost 60% of welfare goes to people or families that have at least one job... Poor people aren't the one sucking the well dry from welfare, its corporations like Wal Mart. Wal Mart employees are BY FAR the biggest recipients of welfare because wal mart makes sure that only a handful of their employees even get a full time schedule. There are some stores that have even held "food drives" for their employees during Thanksgiving. That is freaking pathetic for a multi billion dollar corporation and why I shop at Publix and our local super market as much as possible.

They can't get a job somewhere else? Can't put all the blame on the corporation. Benefits are expensive...you might want to look up when they cut Healthcare to part time employees and the reasoning.

Don't get me started on Walmart, we have one every 3-5 miles out here (I'm serious). Looking forward to the day I leave this over saturated area for a smaller metropolitan area and less congestion (along with lower wages).

25%, thats why I said I would be good with a flat tax rate. Him paying 25% at 120k a year doesnt hurt him as bad as me at 36k paying 25% but we are both paying our fair share. The problem is that the people that are super rich (not the ppl that make 120k, we're talking about the 1% here) are the ones that can avoid paying taxes with certain crazy ass tax breaks. And the excuse is well if Im only actually getting by paying 18% (like Mitt Romney) thats okay because 18% of my five million dollars a year is alot more than your 39% at 100,000. Thats not right. Im not one of these people that thinks someone that is making 3 million every year needs to be paying 60% of their income to taxes, I dont believe that. I dont believe that is fair either.

The one percent begins at $240,000 a year for an individual, and a little over $300,000 for households, just so you know it's closer to my example above than you might think, and not the guy making $3 million a year (that would be the 0.1 percent). As mentioned, many deductions for college tuition, retirement savings and others phase out below my example above.

As to welfare payments, we're to the point where almost half of recipients have been getting benefits for two years or more. Not the way it should be.

If politicians create thresholds requiring employers to do something based on number of hours worked, don't be surprised when they decide to work those thresholds to their advantage. And I like Publix and Piggly Wiggly better, too.

I had no idea that Baton Rouge engaged in some of this until I heard Les Miles speak, then LF7 talked to during his interviews. It's obviously important to people, if I don't want to listen to it, I turn off the tv or stop reading the tweets/news.

Back on topic, I don't have a problem with athletes using their influence to help make things better. I might not agree with their perspective on things, but to each their own. I'm too lazy to protest anything, perhaps I'm more jaded than lazy.

Why? If you have a yellow lab dog and a black lab dog, what's the distinguishing identifier of each breed? Neither breed is superior to the other. Why differentiate between black ink, blue ink, and red ink? Their color identifies them, dude.

Just because I distinguish different HUMAN BEINGS by their color doesn't make me a racist.

MLK referred to each race as black/white.

Sorry for rustling.

That's not it.

Basically you're racially profiling. Your original statement lumped ALL blacks in one light. You then back tracked and said that's not what you meant. But every post after that shows that's exactly what you meant.

Question is...what happens when an athlete(s), of any race, make a public statement (not through Twitter/FB) against the sudden systematic hunting of police officers? Will they get fair treatment?

Many people on welfare (I cant remember the percentage but I think it was like 25% the last time I saw it) have more than one job just for that reason. Either they are making so little (minimum) or the job they have wont give them the hours (WalMart being the biggest example there). And if we are talking about a single father or single mother, how many hours does that person need to work before they are neglecting their kids (and in turn turning the next generation of kids that have no parental guidance whatsoever)? And WalMart has been doing the part time crap since long before the healthcare, my brother was one of the ppl that worked at a wal mart for years...

I live in a TINY town and we have probably six within a 25 mile radius, its ridiculous. Dothan has three supercenters and a neighborhood market I think.

Yall dont get me wrong, I think the ppl that are "abusing" welfare should be stopped. If you aren't even attempting to get a job you dont deserve the help. There are exceptions of course but I have seen firsthand people that will abuse the system. A guy I grew up with and consider more of a brother than a friend did it literally for years. He got fired from his job and was literally on unemployment for almost three years. He was told that he needed to be applying for jobs and report to them everytime he does so that they can verify it or he would lose his benefits. Not only did he never apply anywhere but they never even checked up on him and never asked any questions. And what really blew my mind was when he showed me his $1200 tax refund and Im sitting there like "how the hell?!" Apparently they take out taxes on unemployment and you even get that shit reimbursed. And heres the real kicker. At the time he lived at home with his mom and his sister (who had two kids). His mom, his sister, and he ALL got food stamps. They were getting like 500 bucks between them a month in food stamps and his sister (also no job) got WIC for the kids too. And here's another one, Im really throwing my friend under the bus here lmao but no names, his mom every year claims someone's kid to get a bigger tax return (someone that has like seven kids and "sells" the kids social security to people to use on tax returns, I know nuts). Yeah... people are damn sure gaming the system... but it all it takes in many cases to fix this stuff is a phone call. You are getting unemployment? You've had it for six months and have not applied for a job anywhere? Well, guess what? You just lost your unemployment check. Guaranteed he would have gotten a job alot quicker. In fact he didnt lose his unemployment until the unemployment rate in Alabama dropped to a point where they cut off some of the people that were getting extending unemployment. Like two weeks later he had a job.

Have all white people not been lumped together as racist with all this recent bullshit? Every white person is labeled a racist unless they apologize and confess their love for black culture, and even then you're not trusted. See, it's a two way street, not just one way.

I didn't make that statement..... Nor will I. My issue was with the statement that HE directly made. I don't have an issue with all white people because of a statement or action of others. There's a difference.

Where? I have not seen that anywhere. I HAVE seen some people Im friends with posting stuff like "boycott them and support black owned businesses" which has been disappointing as hell to me. I have no problem with supporting black owned businesses (I get my hair cut at a "black" barber shop and the only place I get music from is at a local music shop owned by a black couple, ditto for the comic book/retro game shop I frequent). I have a problem with the "boycott them" thing which implies boycotting white owned businesses. If you are talking about corporate being "them" I can get behind that, but why starve out the local stores owned by white people because you are mad at the system? THAT I dont agree with.

But I havent seen ANYONE blaming all white people or saying all white people are racist. Are there some idiots that might do that, especially on social media, sure I wouldnt be surprised. But those idiots dont even deserve the time of day to respond to them and it certainly isnt the majority. And I think the "mistrust" in this country is at an all time high but its not just black folks not trusting white folks or just white folks not trusting black folks. Noone trusts anyone these days.
