🏈 I'm sad that Verne is retiring!

I am. I have always enjoyed Vern. A lot of people take his goofiness too seriously as if any commentator is perfect or truly enlightening them. He's a guy that was always happy and had a good time, something to respect in this age of everybody bitching and mad all the time.

Verne is old. Everyone gets to a point in their life when it's time to go. Nothing against the guy, but the mind is only sharp for so long. He should have left years ago when he constantly misspoke and continuously mixed names up. It's sad watching Verne struggling to say names, keep up with a fast game and understand exactly what is going on during a game. It's also sad to watch Coach Corso to struggle on Saturday mornings.

I hate it that he stayed around longer than he should have and became a hated tv personality. I'm hoping Brad Nessler really changes the dynamics of the show.

My biggest problem with the CBS show is watching Gary Danielson break down the football games like he's broadcasting to a new football audience every week. He constantly talks to the audience like they have no idea about college football and he's trying to teach them. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him spend entire broadcasts explaining RPOs and HUNH. I'd guess 90% of the viewers watching the CBS game of the week is watching for their specific team and they all know very well what kind of offense the team is running. But he continues to talk about like his viewers are a bunch of dumbasses who have never seen either team play. It's honestly ridiculous. Then add to that how many times they called names wrong, plays wrong, and even penalties wrong. It's absurd that they've been allowed to broadcast as long as they have.

If he's retiring from everything, then yes, Vern is very good calling golf, college football, not so much, but I do enjoy him calling the Masters. Plus, I don't think he could get through calling a touchdown pass/run from Tua Tagovailoa. ;)
