🏈 I'm probably the last person to watch Tua's Elite 11 film ...

Maybe Tua can develop

I truly hope so. (@TUSKstuff Is that selective quotes? :bird: )

To me, it looks like the question coming out of spring and fall camps this year is who will be holding--or, better said, not 'shirting.

From what I know of Tua he seems like a kid that's got a lot of character. That I admire. From what I've seen of Tua's dad (and his commenting to media outlets) is he either didn't receive, or is ignoring, the staff's encouragement to avoid as much media as possible. Maybe those memo's only go to 48 states?

Trent Dilfer is so awful :puke:

I have little point of reference other than seeing him on ESPN SC. It's his job, as well as June Jones, to promote these camps and kids as much as possible. History has shown us that these reports coming out of these camps mean little, if anything. I don't mean to come across as a skeptic. I am very cautiously optimistic with their analysis.

With Tua, it's possible we caught lightning in a bottle two years in a row, but it feels like we're defying the laws of QB math. But suppose we did, just for the sake of argument, Jalen and Tua are bringing such a diverse skill set to the team that their strengths really aren't repeated, as far as what they do best. If Tua received even Barnett's time and reps on the field that would account for a lot of opportunities to move the team. If Barnett had a more evolved sense of competing, with the way we struggled in the later half of our season, who knows how his role would have grown?

Exactly.

You posted the Stat earlier ITT, 4 eventual 1st round draft picks in 13 years.

That's 143 total QBs, whom he deems as the 11 best HS prospects in each of their respective upcoming signing class. So doing simple math, that's only 7.6% of his "elite" picks actually end up being elite.

Hell, I can call the turd I'm dropping right now "elite". But it's still just a turd. A long, swirling, smelly, brown-ish pile of human waste.

But hey... that's what a 7.6% of ACTUAL success is though, right? A pile of shit.

Hell, Kiper and McShay have an impeccable record of evaluating elite football talent, if you use 7.6% as the standard.

What it actually boils down to is this is an off-season money maker for him.

I need a little more closure TerryP. Perhaps something like TUSK you're 95 to 99.5 % correct on all these thought-provoking points, but perhaps, maybe, right here, in this little, tiny, minute perspective, that is really just mostly a personal, probably just philosophical difference between us, I might have a little different take. I can live with those numbers.

I went and look at the Elite 11 numbers. Interesting that in Saban's 10 recruiting cycles, Alabama has landed 7 Elite 11 QB's - 2 of those were Elite 11 MVPs. Round 1 doesn't necessary indicate elite QB's, hell there are probably only 5-10 elite QB's in the NFL at the moment. Although I'm sure someone could argue that if you're a starting NFL QB, you're probably elite.

The number I count from Elite 11...big number of QB's go undrafted ~67%. You could probably look at our program as some explanation to this, Star Jackson, Phillip Sims, and Phillip Ely having to transfer to get the playing time they want. Would probably be more helpful to see the number of snaps each QB took as it would give some additional insight into playing time and practice snaps.

Some of the In School numbers will change after the NFL Draft.

Looking back at the Elite 11 classes, there were some great classes and some not so great classes (Elite 11 - Wikipedia)

The numbers below, I did Round # / (Total - In School) to determine the percentage.

All that being said, I'm stoked we have Jalen and Tua (notice I called them by the first names, I can't spell Tua's last name from memory just yet).
