🏀 đźŹ€ Sweet 16 - (2) Alabama hammers (6) BYU 113-88, Advances to Elite 8

Oh, another note.

A guy on CBS Sports HQ mentioned how BYU defended Bama versus how St. Mary's had played last weekend. I don't know if it was "polar opposites" ... the phrase he used. But that's what he was pointing out and he's right. Two completely different defenses faced in the last two games and Bama...well, rolled.

I don't disagree with what you are adding here. I do believe we're talking about two different things. A team practicing against themselves and it's a lot like BYU doesn't equate to a guy like Sears saying the basket looked like an ocean.

In my view a lot of last night boiled down to something I've pointed to for several weeks now when people were talking about turnovers. Look at the assists! What was it, 27 on 35 attempts with 12 TOs'? (The shot attempts were mentioned this morning...can't remember by whom.)

One other thing. Pope built the team at BYU. Bama has seen his game and beaten him at his game. That is why I mentioned this was a repeat of Kentucky earlier yesterday.

I happen to think this team did read the headlines and kept seeing where BYU could run with them, expect them to score a lot of points, and it jacked them up. We looked confident and never blinked in the game. We kept being us and I think that helped.

ICYMI, the record of 21 made 3's had stood for 35 years! The 25 will stand until Bama plays another team that has to play defense backed up in the paint because of a lack of size in the bigs.

I kept waiting for the announcers to mention that Bama played LMU during the tourney when that record was set. And we held them to 62, which they usually had at halftime.

I may be wrong in how I'm remembering this, but if I recall, Wimp has talked about how he regrets Bama's game plan that day and looking back wished he'd let Bama run with them some. I don't really remember the game other than seeing it on YT...

I was on some kind of church youth group trip, riding in one of the church vans. We were in the middle of nowhere because I remember we kept trying to find radio channels that we could hear. The suspense was thick! Especially since we couldn’t keep a signal of what was happening. We had chances to win, our guys played incredible.
