At alabama fans...it is sabans first year here, even bear bryant had horrible season his first few years...fans at alabama have this expectation that saban is going to win championships, hate to break it to you but he might not win any but he is the absolute best coach we could possibly have, he is going to give us the best shot at winning as we can possibly have, i just hope some of alabamas little immature asshole fans dont run such a great coach off, im sorry for the language but its just insane that we are 6 games into his first season and people are already poiting fingers, some fans need to grow up and just accept that this isnt the 60s and 70s anymore and it probably will never be like that again, nick saban is an amazing coach give the guy time, people are also forgetting that he is playing with shulas recruits, dont get me wrong we have some great players right now, nick saban is known for being a great recruiter and he always gets the best out of his players, that what good coaches do. I just cannot understand how people can come up with one reason to blame this guy for anything this year, hell we could go 4-8 this year but its not because of the damn coaches its just because saban simply does not have the players that fit his style of play

and i said something about wilson that i shouldnt have last week after the houston game, it was just because i was frustrated

I know what you're saying ACL, but I do think that most of the people here on the site understand the situation and are realistic in their expectations. Having said that......we're a brutal fanbase. That can't be argued.

If you really want to do some good start emailing some of our sports writers. Those seem to be the guys that will cause Saban to either have a coronary or just throw his hands up and go into early retirement. If Coach Bryant offered $20, Saban is calling his card company and checking his credit limit right about now.

You have to remember, part of being an Alabama fan is to expect a championship every year. Aot of our fans have forgotten how college football has changed since 1982. I would love for Saban to be the one to win the NC here, who knows if that will happen. I would for one be happier for him to bring the University of Alabama back to the winning tables with a clean name again. Saban is only one man, not a miracle worker like some think, time will be his key to success.

i just want saban to enjoy coaching here instead of people criticizing every move he makes.

If it's any consolation, I doubt Saban reads our site. The people you need to worry the most about are those closest to writing out his checks, and those attending faculty meetings. We have a history there and it's not a good one. If Saban is getting agitated about anything you can bet it's due to some of those people running around campus (and I don't mean the players).

I agree 100% and I was told time and again how I was supposed to give Shula "one more year". I am not bashing Shula, I am just saying if he deserves 3,4,5 years or whatever then Saban deserves the same. But we can not control what other fans or the media do either.

I hate it when fans throw cups on the field. I can't change that. I hate it when fans leave early (which they have done ever since I have went to the games). I can't control referees, stuid AD's who run off good coaches or hire bad coaches when they could have gotten Bobby Bowden. I can't control the BOT. I can't control Paul Finebaum. I had similar Saban anxiety earlier but then I remembered the Serenity Prayer:

God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

All I can control is my own actions. How I treat the opposing teams fans, how I treat my own team, what I post on here (like that really matters).

I know that we are accused a lot of living in the past. In many ways thats true. But I, like many others long for many of the things that Coach Bryant had taught us. I remember that he didn't like us booing the other team. I remember that he didn't let the players talk to the camera on the sideline, I remember that if a player made a big play that you were supposed to "act like you have been there before." I have read posts on here where people complain about not enough cheering coming from the Tide Pride sections at BDS at times. You know where that comes from? Older fans remember the days where we were supposed to be good. Where if we made a big play it wasn't a big deal because Bama was supposed to be good and make big plays.

Being a Bama fan is a priviledge and a resposibility. We have always prided ourselves as having more class that other fans and in many ways thats still true. I just hope we haven't bought too much into the media brainwashing that we live in the past and we are a delusional fan base. WE are Bama WE do have class and when we start to forget that then we are no better than LSU. I hope it never comes to that.

In all honesty, it's our inability as a fanbase (like fanbases at the other "bigguns") to accept mediocrity that defines our program. It's not like we never win and never have. We've never been through a spell like this, and we don't like it. And remember, not all of our coaches since Bear have been fired. Most have left of their own accord.
No we're not perfect, but dammit we want to be!!

I've got a question....are there transcripts of the press conferences? What I'm looking for specifically are the names of the sports writers and the questions they ask. I would like to send an email to the writer that asked the question regarding Castille's lack of INT's (Tues p/c). I'd like to suggest to him that he might be more effective or able to contribute more should he choose to cover the local pee-wee football league.

Most of the true fans and Bama supporters are very realistic in their expectations this season and next. We understand it is a process. We also understand the need for strong recruiting. It is our rivalries and the media who fan the flame and continually bash Bama fans as unwilling to be patient. For those of us who had the luxury of growing up with Bama during the "Bear" years or those, like Bobby Bowden, who even had other Bama idols - we fully realize that we are rapidly becoming the minority. Most of our student and many of our fans were born after Coach Bryants death. Don't get me wrong, like any other program, we have a few ignorant fans but, as another poster stated, CNS is not listening to us. The press gives him the most frustration. He has made it very clear that media relations is his least favorite part of the job but he has 32 million reasons to deal with it. If anyone is going to make him reconsider the Bama job, it will be boosters and old, big Bama money. The egomaniacs need to let him do his job. We just need to remain classy and respectful and continue to act like we are always winning. We had a championship last decade like only 9 other teams. This decade is not complete. Hey CNS, can I put on my crimson glasses for a minute and tell you that 2009 is a must for a NC! Somehow, I don't think he will ever read this request (lol).

I'd never put Finus Jr. and Chris in the same sentence. Same category, for that matter.

I don't disagree that Chris goes over and beyond, but considering the last decade, I don't mind it at all.

I agree entirely. Folks who overreact and get out of joint can really tear it with me, ACL. Although I can see where you'd have a strained view with some fans' impatience, I just hope you can rehab any feelings of disconnectedness, patellaiculary before any permanent scarring sets in. Every time we lose, you can brace yourself for more wrenching, twisting complaints.
