šŸˆ I'll sacrifice my first born if Rolltide.com—Official Alabama Athletic site—will do me this favor.

Aight, ease up parents. It was just a joke! The weight of the statement I'd like you to carry over to this thought.

I suppose one could say, "you guys do the same thing to an extent." And, the fact of the matter is we do. But, it's a bit of a different scenario with RTB as compared to Rolltide.com.

There are quite a few times during the week I'll visit the site to look up something. The majority of the time it has something to do with a statistical comparison I'm working through. The plethora of information that's available there makes it one of my most frequented sites.

However, I do have one issue I'd like to see resolved. No, make that an issue I'd like to see changed, immediately.

I just glanced at the site for a quick count. From just a cursory count I see at least 15 different ads, some of those are repeated twice.

First of all, it isn't a situation where the University needs that ad revenue to maintain the site. They don't have to worry about the cost of the server space. I mentioned earlier we do the same thing here. And yes, we do. However, it's a bit of a different situation when we deal with paying server costs out of our own pocket and use the ads to help defray—notice I didn't say cover—the cost associated with running RTB.

My point of contention boils down to this.

Do I have to see a freakin' pop up ad jump in the middle of my screen every single time I visit the site!?!?!

I think it's different here..I do not recall any "pop-ups"....the ads we do have you actually have to look for to a degree...this is by far the best fan site on the web...thanks guys

they have more ads than anyone, we try and keep ours down here as much as we can and it just barely covers the cost for hosting each year, plus we try and buy hats, shirts, schedule cards and more which usually comes out of pocket to help promote the website.

I'm guessing here, but I wonder if UA sold of their rights similar to what NASCAR did several years ago? If that is the case that would explain the large amount of adds.

I agree UA doesn't need the money, but they probably got a big paycheck up front and so long as everything is within the confines of the rules they laid out as far licensing, etc. Then they probably could care less about the adds. It would take a boycott of the website and a drastic reduction in "hits" to the site along with some heavy emailage to the proper people to get that remedied.

I know that when you bid on the auction stuff online it is all handled through CBS sports.

I considered that. But, dismissed the idea when it is the same sponsors we see on anything Alabama media related. Then, just to make sure, I did a little more research on who was providing the ads. It's the same companies all web sites deal with: including this site.

CBS Interactive supplies the platform along the same lines of vB supplying the platform here. CBS wouldn't have anything to do with a jersey of a former player.

Now, that said, somethings are definitely from CBS—like Gametracker. But, the ads on Gametracker? See above.

The auction site is a joke to me. Just as one example...you can get an autographed Hightower jersey right now for 300 bucks. Another $300 and you can get a Drew Bullard jersey with no autograph. FWIW, no bids on either.
