🏈 I'LL BE THE FIRST... Coach Prime next Bama HC.

Yes.

I think it's time for a change. His teams have lost the fire, toughness, and identity they had a few years ago. And, with all the talk about change and getting back to "murderball," this team is clearly not there. I think his misplaced devotion to older players (like Milroe) when there are more talented options available is harmful to the overall success of the team. He also seems to be missing on a lot more coaching hires than in previous years. The recruiting is still there, but the coaching has fallen off in recent years, and this year looks no better than the last few, maybe worse, given the recruiting classes that Bama has continued to bring in.

Also, it's much better to make a move a year too early than a year too late, especially when each year brings more negative recruitment due to his age.

I'm also not of the opinion that he should be allowed to coach as long as he wants. It's Greg Byrne's job to decide if the football program is meeting expectations, and who should be running it.

Saban has done better than anyone ever could have imagined since he was hired, and he is probably the greatest college coach of all time, but we are very near the end of this spectacular run that we have been on.
Ahh... You've been drinking.

I have not seen anything from CNS that makes me believe he does not have the judgement to know when it is time. I trust he will do it when it is time. Trust the man to now better than anyone on a message board. He will not ride the ship down. I fully expect him to turn this team around, give him that time. He has always come through and done the impossible and I expect nothing less this time.

Hopefully it's someone who runs the same system(or close to) that is set in place now, that would make it a pretty seamless transition for both parties involved. I can think of a few coaches/coordinators at the moment where that could be the case. Doesn't have to be someone who runs the exact system, but in my opinion... that would be the best case scenario when looking for a new coach.
Only issue with that is Saban’s defense needs an update just like the offense got when Kiffin got here as @TerryP has said before

It’s not time for a change. Here’s what happens- Saban heads for the lake and somebody is hired and the GameDay threads will be filled with even more of the sky is falling

The system isn't the problem, the execution of the system however, is. Georgia runs the exact same defense, terminology and all.... and they've been highly successful at running it. Basically, it comes down to coaching it, and players executing what they've been taught on a consistent basis. And could you be a little more specific? I'm just curious as to what you'd like to see Bama run defensively?

Georgia is much more aggressive and play significantly more free. There is a difference. Watch them and compare the two. The base formations and “lingo” are the same, but the execution is completely different.

Re: UGA under Kirby, I think there's a thread about this from a while back somewhere, but... Kirby took the knowledge and playbook from Saban and basically upgraded it to his version... all the bones are the same, but overall the playbook was simplified and pared down some (that's not to say it still isn't complicated, it's just not as complicated). He implemented his ideas to it, specifically with changes in pattern matching coverages. He's also landed some superb coaches, not really any misses like Bama has had in recent years. He's put an emphases on the defensive line, not that Bama hasn't, but UGA has landed some hoses and they're well coached, which means they are well developed... that makes a huge difference. Lastly, he tends to be more aggressive, which seems to pay off well for him. Many may remember his comments last season about their matchup the Vols... he basically said, we aren't going to be the hunted, we are going to do the hunting.

I've gone over both Alabama's, and Georgia's defenses before on here before. There are subtle differences between the two, and some not so subtle as well. They may call different coverages, blitzes, stunts, etc in certain situations.... but it always comes down to how the players execute the play. Flatly, they're better than Alabama on defense, and that hurts to say that. I want us to go back to playing the brand of defense they were known for for so long.

The system is the issue. Again it needs updated.

Kirby and UGA run the same nuts and bolts, but it’s an updated version.
