I should have framed the question in another way.

The time it takes to make a good dough. Are putting it on the grate, or a stone? Now, let's go to the sauce. You gotta make that. PIzza sauce out of a jar...well, it sucks.

Now we are into the toppings. You want Canadian bacon? Gotta make it. Cheese? Gotta shred it...

All of them. It depends on the mood. The best I've had was in Chicago. I don't remember the name of the place...1000's upon 1000's of people signing the walls. I was on a traveling drama team at the time so we "raided" their menu on pies. It's too much in the end (dough) BUT if it's cooked right.

Now we're back on crust because Detroit and Chicago are so close in size (thick) but the dough is so different. A good Detroit styled dough isn't difficult...ya got to spend the time: like biscuits.

NY Style: Here's stupid. I was making double digits an hour in the mid '80's (after HS, before college) selling shit for Thom McCann...place in that mall had NY pizza. (That job was so funny. Telling a women she had to have the purse to match her shoes...and it paid 12 percent. Think about it....30 bucks on the purse, 30 on the shoes, plus the hourly.) Back to the pizza. I had a slice about every day there. Their salads were GREAT! HUGE! Oven baked sandwich...top notch. (One of the reason I like Firehouse subs.)

A slice hanging off of 12" Dixie plate...yeah. Ya gotta stop.

A good pizza, homemade, in a pizza oven? That’s damn hard to beat. I’ve never had a Canadian bacon pizza (weird I know). Pizza sauce out of a jar? My Sardinian Nonna would disown me. Must make the sauce from scratch.

Sauce? Out of a jar? That's a hard no. You can find one in my pantry...only because Walmart sent me someone else's alfredo sauce.

I've looked at the "home" versions of pizza ovens for a couple of years now and just haven't pulled the trigger. It isn't about the cost or anything related to how often I'd use it...it has to do with where to put it when I'm not using the damn thing.

My Cuisinart panini press/sandwich maker/griddler went out the other day...just two days after my air fryer...I miss that but it'll be here today.

The only jarred sauce in my house is an Alfredo one that my daughter bought because she likes it with perogies.

I have an at ā€œhomeā€ pizza oven by Ooni that I keep on my back deck with my smokers. In the winter they go into my garage and I’ll open the door and use them towards the main door.

That’s the one thing I don’t have is a panini press. I’ll normally use a cast iron skillet and put the sandwich in there with a burger press weight thing on it. The press would make it easier I’m sure. Our air fryer gets used every day by my kids
