🧑‍🍳 What is one regional US cuisine that you have always wanted, but never had...

And I'm talking authentic and preferably within that region. You can get NY Style pizza in Arizona or get Texas style brisket in Florida, but I'm talking about having the food within that specific region. For me, I've always wanted a cheesesteak in Philadelphia. I've had some good ones and I've had a couple made in other places by Philly transplants... but I've never had the real deal on the streets of Philly. And I want it.

Chicago deep dish pizza.

That's a good one. And one everyone should try if they like pizza. I much prefer NY style, but I enjoy Chicago style for what it is. When we went up there, we ate at 4 different pizza places, got tired of it before the week was up, but it was good. But crazy as it may sound, my favorite food up there was another regional specialty, Italian beef sandwiches. I could have had those every day and not been tired of them. Absolutely delicious.

We just had a Chicago Style pizza place open up down the road... apparently they expanded out of Fayette of all places. LOL I know I always think Fayette and Northport when I think of Chicago deep dish. I'll give them a try at some point.

While I know some of it has to do with the water and a lot of it has to do with the high-gluten content of the flour...you'll have a hard time convincing me that a pizza dough that is rolled (Chicago) versus one where it's tossed by hand ... is in any world similar: only by name.

Casagrande...the first time I heard "Cincy chili" was from him talking about Skyline. I understand that it's cloves and cinnamon.

On and off topic: There was a place in Raleigh Springs Mall (Raleigh, TN, just outside of Memphis) I used to go to in the late 80's. There was something unique about ordering "a slice and a drink" and you were full. I don't know why they chose to serve it on a paper plate: all three corners hung off my 3-4".

I've had them, (Including Pat's). While on the same trip there, we wound up in Wildwood NJ. There was a little hole in the wall (literally) called "Russo's". It was like a "mom and pop" tupe convenience store that had a walk up window (the hole) in the back (wall) to order Cheesesteaks. Those were some of the finest cheesesteaks I ever had. Yes plural, as I had a sandwich from there every day we were in NJ.
Edit: I just looked them up on "The Google." They seem to have updated and remodeled the building while I was there. I'm an optimistic fellow and will believe, until proven otherwise, that the cheesesteaks are the same.

I had Pat and Gino. I live across the bridge in NJ, you can get a good one in Jersey too. We also spend a lot of time in WIldwood too. To any one that tell you it's not the real thing as a Philly Cheesesteaks because it not make in, Philly! Tell them this which one is the real one?

You can go to Gino or Pat web site and order a kit with all the trimming. All of this will be authentic.

Cincinnati chili is very overrated IMO. I have Sky Line and Gold Star and didn’t not care for either.

I would like to try fresh Maine Lobster.

I don’t care for pizza.
I’ve been to Ogunquit Maine and we picked out lobsters straight off the boats coming in.

We actually met and was served by Jacqueline Bevins!!!!!!

She was great, actually looked at me and joked about what she’d do if I had any complaints!!!!😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂….

On the same trip we did a murder mystery weekend in Vermont. Had fresh maple syrup, had 50 yr old Vermont cheddar, and pepperoni from a farm to table pig farm!!!!

I've had a lot of regional foods but can't think of many I'd return for. Chicago deep dish and authentic cajun are 2 that I would and I'd go back to Japan just for the food but not a particular dish.

Mexican food in SW Texas, New Mexico and Arizona and Peking duck in NYC Chinatown would be food I'd travel for but not sure that's really authentic regional.
