If Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens aren't inducted into the baseball HOF, is it really the Hall of Fame?

I hope the known cheaters Clemens, Bonds etc. never get in. There numbers are tainted.

Interesting you added "known" in there...

I suspect some that got in without getting caught like J. Bagwell. Are you disputing Bonds and Clemens didn't use PED's.

Absolutely not... But do guys like Bagwell, Larry Walker, Todd Helton get a pass because someone didn't snitch them out? Despite the numbers spike that pretty clearly shows a trend towards PED use?

I commented on Bagwell and no one should get a pass if they used. Hard to keep someone out with the numbers if you have no proof. IMO I doubt that L. Walker did that's just my 2 cents.

That's fair... RTR!

MLB is as much to blame as the players.

Still doesn't make it right. Have some morals for goodness sake. Not you, but the players. The players knew it was wrong, so it's on them. Now if Major League Baseball said they could do them and wouldn't get in trouble, that's one thing, but I don't think that's what happened.

What's not right is allowing it while reaping the financial rewards. They were all part of the problem.

As a boy growing up in love with baseball and my heros...mantle, maris, say hey willie mays....I deplore the users who tainted baseball......were the earlier players using something...look at them... doesnt look like it...did something speed up the bat...i dont know.... but they arent tainted.......

I haven't really had a high opinion of baseball HOF in a long while. If you're gonna argue for Bonds, Clemens, etc....there shouldn't be an argument against Charlie Hustle.

Agreed. Keep them all out. Hell, Chipper bulked up around that same time, and it probably helped him recover from all of those strained internal obliques chasing and catching Hooters girls.

This article suggests it was more than steriods, it was a change in the ball that contributed more.

If you're a fan of baseball, then you SHOULD be a fan of stats. Read this and see if you still think shame on the players... MLB is more to blame in my opinion. They knew all along what was going on, with PEDs, etc.

How Much of a Role Did Steroids Play in the Steroid Era?

Let's not even talk about the voters of the HOF. They are just as bad.

Ok, but it still doesn't make what they did acceptable. Wrong is wrong.

Doesn't change my opinion that the MLB was complicit in allowing this to go on. It was an easy problem to solve that took forever to solve.

Sure they knew what they were doing was wrong. I'm just of the opinion that MLB knew as well and choose not to deal with this, as they were enjoying the increase in attention MLB games were getting from the big hitters. So they looked the other way for far too long.

If you don't hold people accountable what happens? Exactly what happened.

I'd be throwing rocks from glass house if I wanted to talk about right and wrong :D.

Let me break down my thoughts on the HOF this way ( as a former Atlanta Braves fan ). Dale Murphy isn't in the HOF... The HOF is meaningless to me.

How is it that an NFL player can test positive, like Mark Ingram, gets a 4 game suspension and no one will bring it up again. When is the last time you heard of a positive test in football keeping anyone out of the Hall? The media and fan hypocrisy of baseball knows no bounds.

Clemons and Bonds have zero evidence against them, but because people “think” they know that they did is why they’re not in.

People like Arod or Big Mac is one thing because they admitted to it, but neither Bonds or Clemons have ever failed a test or admitted to anything.

Agreed on Dale Murphy. My all time favorite player. He's the reason my favorite number and every number I wore in sports was #3.

Pleading ignorance here, but my guess would be a difference in anabolic steroids and some additive in a medicine or substance?
