Might start with Bear by Bryant and Underwood. In fact, you might find that at your local library.

Go find Bill Battle; he'll tell ya.

should i google bill battle??

Seriously, Battle was one of many Bear Bryant's former players and assistant coaches, who later became head coaches.

Battle is also the founder and chairman of The Collegiate Licensing Company. In 1981, while working for Golden Eagle Enterprises in Selma, Alabama, Battle signed Paul "Bear" Bryant to a licensing agreement. The University of Alabama signed on as CLC’s first university client.

He used to coach the Vols. UA grad, former player and coach under Coach Bryant.

Or you could just watch replays of the Alabama vs. Clemson game and see Nick Saban. He is actually alive and you can learn from him because he will be taking ppl to school all year.

This Tennessee fan didn't ask to learn about Coach Saban, he asked to learn about Coach Bryant. Now, if you imagine that people here are ashamed or embarrassed to talk about him or remember him, you have probably come to the wrong forum.

He didn't ask who was alive or who had passed away, that is just some smug and snide crap you felt you needed to throw in for some reason.

Because you are afraid of being ridiculed by an AuNeck for talking about one of the greatest coaches of all time is your problem. No need to offhandedly insult the memory of a man that was quite likely 50 times the human being you will ever turn out to be because he has passed away. Show some respect if you are a 'Bama fan.

Here is a pretty cool link that will give you the basics on Coach Bryant's life.

http://www.redelephants.com/BryantBio.html

There are several books. Someone mentioned the Underwood book. I believe his long time friend Micky Herkowitz wrote one as well. I am sure you can get some good stuff from the Bryant museum.

To digress, one of the things that has impressed me so much about Coach Saban is that he approaches many things about football very similarly to the way Coach Bryant did. Intensity, hard work, dedication, pride in one's team were virtues that Bryant preached and Saban practices.
