The problem was it ws 3rd down they were not defending the run on 2nd down yes but not 3rd, thats the bad playcallng I was talking about earier.

Applewhite tries to be too cuite Gary Donaldson pointed that out in a previous game he had with us.

Plus the Texas spread offense is not agood offense to run.
i haven't really seen him try and get too cute many times this season.

since we really don't have much of a running game to mention, how is the spread offense a bad offense to run? with the WR corps we have, i think it is a perfect fit. why must we try try try so hard to blame this on CMA? i would really like to know what offense would "work", and why given our current situation....all of the CMA naysayers, please speak up.

Eye Witness

It was obvious that execution was the culprit. Yes mistakes were made, like not scoring from the one yard line.

Didn't the Bear say "If you can't score from the 1 yard line you don't deserve to win..

Miss Stake did not win the game, we just failed to execute and gave them the game. Our guys looked sluggish and tired from my viewpoint. Maybe LSU did beat us up. This year is almost history. It is more than I expected. Maybe we can get a win the next two weeks, and all will be well in Alabama.

In every breakdown we've had this year on offense you can point to a breakdown in coverage. That coverage, is in the blocking schemes.

I don't discount that JPW tries to force some plays at times. Sometimes that works, other times it leads to disaster. (see the 100 yard INT return this past weekend...he should have just taken the sack.)

If you consider the number of OLmen that were recruited the last few years and then consider Saban is already looking to replace them you have to draw one, and only one, conclusion.

Shula wasn't a good talent evaluator.
Amen. I would say, however, that Andre Smith was an outstanding selection. And Shula came very close to signing Tim Tebow.

Maybe he just wasn't good at evaluating offensive and defensive linemen.

I don't know. We can talk about the goal line play call all we want, but if "we" had been able to make the proper reads (what CMA's offense has always relied on), then we wouldn't even be talking about it. There were so many times DJ or KB was wide open and IF the proper read had been made, we would have easily scored TD's.

Again, too many "we's" for me. :?

You would think, that an ex-quarterback, would be one of the best people to evaluate O and D linemen, wouldn't you? I mean, really, a quarterback sees both up close and personal and works with them constantly. Shula should have been someone who could spot a good O lineman, especially since they are a qb's best friend. I think that's pretty obvious that he couldn't.

Our team is built to run Shula's offense, which it couldn't do that very well, either, so we can't blame too much on CMA since 90% of his players he has to work with are CMS'. I say wait until year 3, and if there isn't a marked improvement, then maybe start talking about getting rid of him. Right now I think he's the best man for the job. Who else would we get, Dave Rader?

we's

we's could have won the game if its & buts were candy & nuts we's could all have a Merry Christmas.

Now we have to support the team no matter what. Time and work will seal the deal.
