Crap, that's twice on this board that my sarcasm detector has failed. I really need to get that thing checked!

Just messing with you, SkinnyUte. I thought I would check out the sense of humor of Utah fans and see if they possessed that characteristic or not.

Diagnosis = Yet to be determined.

Sometimes a little levity is needed on a football message board. I mean, if all it ever was was stuffy and crotchety statiticians mumbling on about head to head comparisons all the time, it would be a pretty boring thing to come to a message board.

Don't get me wrong, all that technical talk is fine and informative, but can get to be blowing your head off boring at times.

Well, given the familiarity of the average SEC fan with the MWC, can you really blame me for missing the joke?

Went right over my head CAD. I'm just used to you talking about the gaps, slants, etc.

Poor catch vs poor toss...hmmm.

I am far from a X's and O's poster, Terry. Your sarcasm is dull, yet you still try. I am proud of you.

Maybe that is the whole problem though, you guys who don't know how to express yourself properly in many situations, the number's nerds, just didn't get my innocent little post.

Due to not really possessing skill with the written word, rather a Rain Man like propensity for breakdowns, some of you just didn't see the humor in my post.

Hey, I get it. It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

Let me go ahead and apologize to SkinnyUte. SkinnyUte, I am sorry that I made the horribly scathing post that I did. Will you forgive me so that I will be left alone and maybe that will be the end of it?

Uhhh, we are talking about the WAC, right? Utah is really in the WAC, along with Boise State, Idaho, Nevada, etc...

Whew, you had me going there for a minute.

I was ROFL at CAD's post. It was great.

Thanks, BigFan. You know, I figured the thread was at 6 or 7 pages full of booorrrrinnnnngggggg, why not bring some lighthearted fun into it.

Little did I know that it was going to be turned around on me and made into some kind of backhanded insults type of thing.

Oh well,live and learn.

your TE's will be the deciding factor in the game. If they get a number of yards, it will keep our defense off balance and you will be able to run and pass. I really don't look for your WR's to do much that will hurt us (they may gain yards, but not long TD's), but good TE's can be extremely dangerous.

If I was your coaching staff I wouldn't live and die on stopping the run b/c if you think you're going to cover our wideouts with man coverage all game long you're in for a long long day.

Julio better scare you if not then you're in for a shock and a rude awakening.

Utah can compete with Alabama

Over the past few years, Utah has beaten the following teams...

Michigan
Oregon State
#10 UCLA
#20 USC (Trojans)
#22 Gergia Tech
Arizona (2)
#23 Texas A&M
#13 Oregon
#24 CAL
Indiana (2)
North Carolina
#23 PITT
Lousiville
South Florida

So while we have great respect for Alabama, the Utes are not overwhelmed or intimidated at all and have no reason to worry about what a great Bama team brings to the table, we have been down that road before and got the t-shirts a few times.

You better hope your coaching staff thinks better than you because if the coaches believe this it's going to be over before the first quater is over. Utah better be worried about what a great team Bama is bringing to the Sugar Bowl or they're going to be embarrassed which they might anyway.

I respect Utah and their record, but Bama will be the BEST team Utah has faced by far.

While I respect what Big_Fan is posting,

I think that it is his style of writing creates controversy with our fans. Read it though without the "Bama filter" and it can come across as condescending at best.

He did state at the beginning that he may piss off Ute fans, but actually it isn't his stats that piss anyone off as much as his writing style.

Again, while I respect his statistical ability and the fact that according to other posters here his predictions have been accurate this year and possibly in the past I think his 35 point spread estimate (45-10 prediction) is off base by a mile.

There have been many posts on this thread disparaging the talent level of Utah, and while that looks to be true on the 2nd team, Urban Meyer has stated that Utah's 1's stack up with anybody in the country, it is the drop off after that where the problems begin.

I would suggest that he is a better judge of talent and ability than anyone (including the current Ute fans) on this board, and probably the only one qualified to make that statement. Seeing as he has coached at Utah.

Interesting that a player (Ryan Smith) who lost his starting spot at Utah, graduated and transferred to Florida ended up starting for the Gators.

Care to list the final records of those teams and what year it was?

Kudos to your AD for trying to beef up your schedule by adding michigan, but they turned out to be the worst Michigan team ever. But what the heck, i guess UCF fans still brag about beating Bama in 2000 when the Tide was 3-8....

I think the comment that Utah does not have three players that would start for the upper tier SEC teams is a little ignorant. Remember, Urban brought Ryan Smith with him to Florida. Smith had an immediate impact in the SEC and was an all-conference on Florida's national championship team. Also, upon arriving at Florida, Urban commented that he didn't have a safety at Florida that was as talented as Morgan Scalley or Eric Weddle. Further, Urban wanted Kruger to come to Florida after Kruger got back from his LDS mission. You will get a chance to evaluate Kruger on January 2nd. It will be a tough game for him but I predict that he will have 2 sacks.

That's one of the most infuriating things about scheduling, especially when you're in a non-BCS conference. We always hear the "play some good teams" argument, then when we schedule some of them, they turn out to be flops. Michigan was in the top 10 when that game was scheduled, and they absolutely sucked. Same thing with UCLA last year. They were #11 when we played them, and ended up as a middle of the road Pac-10 team. Frustrating, to be sure.
