Of the ones that sign this Wednesday and the ones that are early enroll in school. Which ones of these guys do you think will start first string? Which ones will be another Calvin Ridley? Will one of these guys take one of the guys that just left? What you say?

Just by listening to CNS and his history of playing "new" players. The JUCOs are brought in because they're typically developed physically, technically and little older with potential leadership qualities. He specifically mentioned Jonah Williams (early enrollee) , Steve Lashley in an interview. History says he really likes the JUCO guys at the OL.

If true freshmen RBs are talented and tough enough, they're are gonna be on the field. The hardest thing to develop is their blocking skills. We will be starting from scratch at RB so it may be all hands on deck this I think. The raw talent of a RB is quickly noticed.

Defensive guys usually take development but if he is bright enough, he'll be on the field (especially LBs..outside and inside) we lack depth here this year. The backside guys may take awhile to develop.

With all that being said.. all bets are off depending on the kids attitude, work ethic, how quickly he develops and how he is transitioning to the college life. There are always a couple of kids that just don't work out.

Hulk, Davis, and Wilson
SO you think David and Wilson will beat out Jr. SDH, Jr. R. Evans, Sr. T. Williams, Sr. R. Foster, Top 50 guy Christian Miller?

And who will Hulk beat out? J. Allen, D. Hand, Payne, Tomlinson, Top 100 guy J. Frazier?

Sometimes I think we as fans forget about the guys, who are just as highly talented, that have been in the system for a year or two and automatically say, oh, this freshman is going to start because he's a stud.

Bamabacker.......I could not agree with you more. 100000000%

Saban typically will not burn a scholly on a JUCO unless he can contribute quickly. While Coker was not a JUCO it is the only time I can think of a guy he used a scholarship and he not contribute immediately. There was a DB a few years ago that didn't pan out, but transferred because he couldn't break into the rotation. Think of the JUCO guys that we have landed, Mt Cody, Jesse Williams, Carpenter.....etc. They all played 2 years.

Also agree with you about the RB's blocking. That is what kept Henry off the field his freshman year. The light went off in preparation for the Sugar Bowl against OU and he showed out that night. Makes me really respect the guys like Ingram, Richardson, Yeldon that played quite a bit their freshman year. Means they had it between the ears to pick it up so quickly.

Great idea for a thread!

In order of most playing time, here's my 2 cents:

1. Jamar King - Defensive End (JUCO); We only have 4 D Lineman back that played legit snaps last year (Allen, Payne, Tomlinson, Hand). King could play 3-4 DE or 3-4 DT.. Probably best fit is 4-3 DT. He's taller and not as much as a bruiser as Robinson and Reed were, but this guy is super athletic for his size (6'5 290). He was even rushing off the edge in JUCO... Check him out:

2A. Ben Davis - ILB; Inside Linebacker is by far the most thin position on the roster. Rueben Foster will obviously be back and a starter... After that it's just Shawn Dion Hamilton who played a little bit this year. He's not physically imposing but is apparently super smart and physical. After that it seems like things are completely up for grabs. Davis is a freakish athlete for his size (6'2 230). The way we've been playing LB's in "specialty" roles/packages, I'd be shocked if he isn't playing in some sort of capacity next year. My guess is he starts and plays on first & second downs - Then comes off in pass coverage. Although he's physically capable of being an every down guy... He was catching bubble screens this year. Check him out:
2B: Lyndell Wilson: If the staff decides to start him at ILB, he could be right there with Davis for early playing time. He's a special athlete and is super physical. Check him out:

3. Charles Baldwin
- Offensive Tackle (JUCO); The Right Tackle spot will be up for grabs this year. Depending on how Baldwin is able to mentally transition at the SEC level, he could have a great chance to play. As noted, Saban always wants his JUCO dudes to play right away. The biggest hang up I see is Piersbacher possibly moving out to RT. He has the size/speed/feet to play either guard spot or tackle. Plus he now has legit experience. There's been a handful of JUCO guys that came in and just mentally could not start or even play early in transition. Physically, Baldwin is more than ready (6'6" 315) Here is highlights from 2 yrs ago:

4. BJ Emmons - Running Back; This kid is special. Something about him I don't think we've seen since Trent Richardson. He just has a "slippery" quality that must be a combination of strength & speed that is so hard to tackle. There are questions about his ability to qualify, but there's a good chance he makes it in. RB is not far behind ILB in terms of depth questions, so he could jump right in the mix. IMO Bo Scarbrough is "next up" with Damien Harris looking like a responsible backup RB, but I don't think there's an "it factor" to Harris that could keep a truly special freshman RB off the field. Check him out:

5. Quinnen Williams - Defensive End; With the DL having some spots up for grabs, and the staff's willingness to play a lot of guys, Williams could put himself in the playing time conversation. At 6'4 265, he's not that far off from having the size necessary to play 3-4 DE. If they can put a few more lbs on him, he's got a good shot. Unless the staff is moving a few of our OLB's to DE's, there's not many names to throw out who would play 3-4 DE after Hand/Allen/Tomlinson. Williams is really quick for his size, he's got a chance to be really good. Quinnen Williams Senior Year

5B. Terrell Hall - The only reason I would rank him behind Williams is his weight. He's only listed at 250 lbs, so he's got some work to do to play DE at Alabama. However, he is just ridiculously talented. At 6'5 he's got a frame that could put on 20-30 lbs and be absolutely dominant. Not used to seeing DL's that are that tall, so he could be special in a different way than we're used to seeing. It's hard to even compare him to anyone we've seen at Bama. Maybe a D'Shawn Hand type of athlete? Just a special mix of size & athleticism for a D Lineman. Check out these highlights... Super impressive: Year Of The Real UNCUT

Beat out? No, of course not. Impact players as freshmen, yes.

My sentiments exactly. Not to say one like Darron Payne can't show up, Calvin Ridley, or Minkah, but it's not every day you see it.

I have to think at least 1 of those guys will be playing ILB. There's just so much depth at OLB right now and both are capable. Plus guys that play ILB get to play more snaps... So if they're studs, the staff would want them on the field. I think Davis is a little more likely at ILB but who knows what the staff is thinking with these 2... Both studs.

I would love to see this kid starting next year on the line. He did great when Kelly when down last year, and that is Bradley Bozeman. I know one thing his family travels well just to watch him on the sideline and on special team. What you guys thinks? Yes, I'm not far from Roanoke(Handley),Al.

Ben Davis is a lock to play this year at MLB.

King will be in the rotation.

I know everyone liked to compare Drake to Bush, but Emmons is closer IMO. Very special talent. He lined up all over the place in high school so just imagine when kiffin gets his hands on him. He'll play.

Like others have mentioned Baldwin likely to get a long look, but frankly I have not been impressed with juco OL's lately. Maybe Baldwin can displace shank, and one of our younger guys can begin a new era at RT ? Thats what I would like to see anyway. It's real hard for me to believe Bama cant do better on that right side this year.
