Growing up in N AL I really wasn't exposed to NHL. I've never lived in a city where there was a pro hockey team. Believe you me, tough decision!

NHL - Jagr...tough one this one, real tough one.

The Bulls left Birmingham in the early 80s. I only was able to go to a couple of them, when my dad could spare the time and money. That of course all came on the heels of the greatest moment in sports, Miracle on Ice. ESPN barely made a dent in their hockey coverage at the time as well. I just got hooked and kept up with them the best way I could.

I was a season ticket holder for the Chargers in H-ville at the time...as a high school kid. Cheap tickets, even for a kid, but a hell of a time.

A 22 lb heart!!! That is 3 x the size of the typical racehorse. A freak genetic condition led to the most dominating horse in history.

I remember following "Big Red" to the triple crown and it was wild. Back then I watched whatever Wideworld of Sports or NBC and CBS had to offer and was glad to get something like the Kentucky Derby. I was glued to the tube when barrel jumping came on live via satellite from Yugoslavia. So the triple crown was a big deal. That was one bad horse and in the Belmont race crushed Sham. I can't see any horse ever doing that again in the way he destroyed the competition.

The Belmont and victory was unbelievable! If I'm remembering correctly, it was by something like 32 lengths. He also set the record for the next eighth of a mile just running through by his momentum. Another visual that always stands out to me however, is him passing the field on the outside rail - in the turn (!), in the Preakness as if they were all standing still. Greatest racehorse of all time!
