🏈 Hugh Freeze Resigns

Only problem is the NCAA has no power to do anything but contact these ladies (if they can identify them) and should they get to a point to ask them questions, the ladies cannot be compelled to answer any questions. Now, if someone wished to pay them for their answers, that could be another thing... only issue is you will be getting what you are paying for ..."Yes, Daddy, you are the best I have ever had..." any answers would be along that line. Pay me and I will tell you what you want me to say. Unless someone just wants the notoriety, NCAA is powerless... no subpoena power for outsiders. (and can you imagine a ho coming forth and testifying without lots of cash? I think not. (book deal?)

I agree with you get what you pay and that the NCAA doesn't have the same power as a court of law. I was just saying that it does make you wonder if they would question them considering they did with prospects that signed elsewhere. The whole idea of calling escorts while on recruiting trips opens that can of worms. Does the NCAA go ahead, be content with all that they have and hammer Ole Miss or do they go for the DEATH NAIL!!

Legal power or not, they lean on these "ladies" they'll crack like crystal at an opera.

I would think any lawyer worth his/her salt can rip an "escorts" testimony to shreds. No matter how high class, sexy, or high paid the woman is, she is still a whore. A woman of the night that leads a life of ill-repute. I'm not a lawyer, and did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night, but I just don't think this is a rabbit trail the NCAA really wants to head down.

As UAGrad eluded to, I think this is one of those cases that the NCAA has more than enough to kill OM for quite some time.

Personally I'm ready for this to end. If this was another team out of conference, I wouldn't mind it so much, but what Ole Miss has done does not look good on our conference. I, as well as many of you, remember the Dubose debacle and how it never seemed to go away. Then they lowered the boom and ass reamed us to decade of mediocrity. Ole Miss is not as strong as UA and have a realistic chance of ending up like SMU. (Not death penalty), but may not ever recover. I don't want that for any team in the SEC.

While a lawyer could probably rip an escort's testimony in court, they aren't in court. The rules are different. Yes, an escort would probably require some type of payment to cooperate with an investigation and that would open up the questionability of the "evidence," but the rules are different in an NCAA investigation.

It just gets better
Report: Hugh Freeze made a dozen calls to escort services on Ole Miss phone

"We now have an idea what the “pattern of misconduct” Ole Miss officials were referring to regarding former coach Hugh Freeze.

Freeze resigned after phone records showed he called a number connected to a Tampa escort service. At a news conference announcing his resignation, AD Ross Bjork said after finding out about the call they also found “a pattern of personal misconduct inconsistent with the standards we expect” from the coach.

According to ESPN, Freeze made “at least” 12 calls to numbers connected with escort services on his school phone.

A preliminary review of Freeze’s phone records, obtained by ESPN through an open records request, revealed he dialed at least 12 numbers that are associated with online advertisements for female escorts. The calls took place over a 33-month period beginning in April 2014 and usually lasted two minutes or less.

Freeze told Yahoo Sports at the time of his resignation the Tampa call was a “misdial.”

Ole Miss replaced Freeze with offensive line coach Matt Luke, who is now the team’s interim head coach. Freeze’s resignation also comes as Ole Miss is facing a self-imposed bowl ban in 2017 regarding the NCAA allegations against the school.

The Tampa phone call was found as part of research for a lawsuit vs. Freeze and the school by former coach Houston Nutt, who preceded Freeze. Nutt alleges that Ole Miss and Freeze attempted to defame him by pinning most of the alleged NCAA misconduct as a product of Nutt’s tenure.

Nutt and the school have not reached a settlement regarding his suit, which is expected to be refiled in state court."

The most interesting thing for me now going into the NCAA inquisition is the benefit of the doubt card that the rebel staff has been selling to anyone within ear shot. After the great Hugh Freeze character buildup, which the administration has insisted on through their entire rebuttal, they are essentially left with throwing themselves on the mercy of the court. Of which I believe they will receive very little of.

The most interesting thing for me now going into the NCAA inquisition
If I could have I would have published the story when it broke. It's still the most interesting story to me: the blind disregard the Ole Miss staff had for the NCAA before and during their investigation.

There was a report out this past weekend about Ole Miss officials flying around on a boosters plane. That's no big deal. It happens at every school.

EXCEPT: This particular booster was one of the main guys named in the letter(s.) Ole Miss knew this. Yet, while all of this is going on they are scooting around the country on what's basically his dime. There's institutional control there--just not the type the NCAA writes about.

The Ole Miss staff from AD to boosters have been busy explaining at every turn that their crap don't stink. It's time for some serious self-analysis, cause the high proctologist is closing in and I think they knew the answer all along.

Ole Miss is pretty much proof that the NCAA will never bring down the death penalty on anyone else ever again. Because if any school deserves it, its Ole Miss. If for nothing else than the flagrant disregard for this entire process and the lies. They should be hammered far worse than Bama was in 2000, but I doubt even that will happen.

Don't judge numbers versus numbers.
