🏈 Hugh Freeze Resigns

So, Hugh Freeze is now qualified to run for governor in Alabama?

So far for me, this is a confusing read. The escort service has been deemed a "misdial" and all the other records for that phone show no evidence of anything wrong. However, the school "kept digging" and found something big enough to get Freeze to resign whether he liked it or not. The question is how long will it take a Miss State fan to find what the AD came across? This is going to be interesting.

@TerryP , remember posting this? Mr. HF hid behind his "righteousness" and now the truth is out. My Ole Miss pals are gonna hate me even more now.

Oh yeah!

How many times have you read or heard something along the lines of "they don't want to do that" or "why are they doing that?" And, here's one of the best examples: "you don't want depositions coming into play."

If you watch the PC, the AD said there was "a pattern of behavior" that was unacceptable. That means more than one call or one incident.

The whole thing has been baffling. You and OP hit on another case of why we've been saying, "wait a minute." Check this blurb out from ESPN:

Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze resigned effective immediately on Thursday night, with the Rebels' athletic director telling ESPN that school officials found a pattern that included phone calls to a number associated with a female escort service.
Now, they "discovered" these calls recently--AFTER a back and forth between the two parties. Here's my "wait a minute." When they were investigating (self investigation part of these NOA's) they undoubtedly reviewed all of the coaches phone records. After all, they've discovered contact(s) outside of official dates, right? (Wasn't it Kiffin named?) They should have gone through phone records for everyone, from day one, right?

So, if they did their due diligence in their own investigations, and it took deposition proceeding for them to look at Freeze's phone records ... that tells me they did a piss poor job of their investigation of Freeze in the first place. Or, none at all.

It's going to be embarrassing for the NCAA if it turn's out to be Houston Nutt's investigative effort that finally takes down Freeze. Either way, I don't think this stuff will stay hidden long. If an Ole Miss AD and staff that has fanatically stood by their man can find it, it's got to be something ridiculously obvious. If it looks like the NCAA glossed over it I look forward to them having to publicly explain it.

I think this comes down to what they suspect and know versus what they can prove (and cite in their allegations.) I suspect a lot of this was hoped to be kept under wraps. But, putting it in the civil courts puts it in the public view so it leaves me thinking Bjork was thinking "what can we hide and for how long?"

I know this has been pointed to on a few occasions. The question still lies in how ticked off the NCAA is about how Ole Miss has handled itself after their warnings.

I still wonder if it'll get any more messier than it is today--again, I suspect it will.

I also thought the ethics committee had given ole miss a week to release Booster's name? Seems like time is up.

What I haven't seen mentioned is what power the Ethics committee has over Ole Miss. Can they still refuse?

I'm wondering if all they can do is basically admonish.

"I would ask ole Beaver teeth(Freeze).... Did Jesus tell you that if you bought three straight recruiting classes you could squeak by bama two years in a row finish with 9 wins once and get a statue built for you in Oxford? Was that really your gas mask that Laramey Tunsil was using? What will you do to celebrate your two year show cause penalty?"

I guess we now know what he will do to celebrate his 2 year show cause penalty..lol

Ole Les Miles may be getting that head coaching opportunity. School that will spend some money, very close to his old recruiting grounds at LSU, a personality that a program can get behind, and a guy that can bring them ten wins a year to make them very happy. Lets seee if it gains any traction.

Yeah, I thought about ole Les for the job too. They could do a lot worse imo. But I think the Oxford Reb Bears or whatever they are now will have to do some athletic department house cleaning first.
