Another title is in view for this season for the Tide, as Coach Nick Sabin recovers from his positive stint with COVID-19.

ā€œHe’s serious, very serious,ā€ Gold says of Sabin. ā€œBut as serious as he may be, there is a mutual respect between us.ā€
That’s that northern education ( but we are the dumbasses down south)

When Mr Gold took over, radio was still the medium I received almost all of my UA sports through. I remember being apprehensive because unlike tv nowadays where I mute the commentators you can’t do that with radio šŸ˜‚

But now looking back it seems like it was akin to getting a new pair of shoes, after I wore them a little while they fit pretty good

Eli does a really good job but about time he came on is when more and more games were being televised. In my early years of following bama most of the games you kept up with through the radio. The announcers I listened to the most are John Forney and Doug Layton.

I never had anything but the 3 basic network channels until I was well into my second marriage. I grew up with Forney and Layton but Eli got me thru my latter 20s and into my 30s. If I can get it to sync up I will still watch while listening to radio

My freshman year, we had just locked up at least a share of the SEC and I brought my Dad into the locker room and introduced him to some of my teammates and coaches. Well, when we were walking out and across the BDS turf, my Dad picked up a few sugar cubes that had been tossed onto the field. As we were walking out the gate, we bumped into Eli and my Dad handed him those sugar cubes! Eli’s response, ā€œthank you sir! Roll Tide to you and we will see you in NOLA!ā€
