🏈 Hot Seats and Coaching Changes - EX UA coach, Billy Napier to ULL

He could end up in Knoxville.
That's what I've heard. I wonder if the money will lure him away. I don't know what kind of buyout Jones has and what kind of money they'll offer, but I think it will be tempting. At the moment, he's done a great job at MSU and he is set for life there if he wants to stay. But at ut, he'll have more resources (in my opinion) at his disposal and perhaps a broader recruiting base. We'll see in the next few weeks or so.

I have to give major props to Miss St and their administration. They have taken good care of Mullens and made it so easy for him to stay put unless he got exactly what he wanted. At this point, he has 9 years invested, great facilities, wealthy to boot and if they hang on to him when so many have him on their radar, this time around, he could soon become "institutionalized" and turn into the next Bill Snyder.

I just don't see Chip Kelly getting back into the NFL anytime soon, so if he wants to coach, college is his only choice. I think his ego is big enough that he would come to the SEC to "show us" how it's done but I don't think he would come to any school. Of the schools that are open, I would think Florida would be best, followed by A&M (strictly because of the money they have mixed with the recruiting bed of the state) then UT. But, who the hell knows.

I too think Kelly would fit at UF. I also think he would do well and give teams fits, however going against SEC defenses week in and week out would take it's toll. As good as Spurrier and Meyer were at Florida, they always managed to choke a game away every year. I feel as though Kelly would fit that mold. Compete very well and make the SEC east travel through Gainesville every year.

Jim Mora out at UCLA.

Los Angeles, CA— University of California, Los Angeles Director of Athletics Dan Guerrero announced today that Head Football Coach Jim Mora has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately. Offensive Coordinator Jedd Fisch will serve as Interim Head Coach for the remainder of the season.

"Making a coaching change is never easy, but it's an especially difficult decision when you know that a coach has given his all to our University," said Guerrero. "Jim helped reestablish our football program, and was instrumental in so many ways in moving the program forward. While his first four seasons at UCLA were very successful, the past two seasons have not met expectations. We thank Jim and his family for his service to our school and his unquestionable commitment to our student-athletes."

The terms of Mora's contract will be honored by UCLA Athletics, exclusively using department-generated funds.

In six seasons at UCLA, Mora compiled a 46-30 record, leading the Bruins to a pair of school record-tying 10-win seasons, winning the PAC-12 South in 2013 and taking the Bruins to four bowl games, including victories in the Sun Bowl (2013) and Alamo Bowl (2014). Under Mora, Bruin teams produced four of the top five best total offensive season outputs in school history. Twenty-five Bruins were selected in the NFL Draft during Mora's tenure.

A national search for a new head coach will begin immediately. Guerrero will be assisted in the search by Senior Associate Athletic Director Josh Rebholz, Bruin alumnus and supporter Casey Wasserman and former Bruin football great Troy Aikman.

"I am grateful for the willingness of Josh, Casey and Troy to help us recruit the very best coach to Westwood, as their advice and counsel will be indispensable," said Guerrero. "We have no set timeline to make a hire but will move as expediently and comprehensively as possible. We will not comment on the search or candidates until we announce a hire, and I would remind our passionate supporters that speculation, rumors and innuendo are just that."
