Hugh Freeze and his daughters were the hit after they defeated a Big LEast Team Pitt. They held up the SEC banner well

Not at all. Seems like everyone that has an undefeated season always has one (or more) of those. Remember we needed 2 blocked field goals to beat an extremely mediocre Tennessee in '09.

I've seen a few people try to draw comparisons between those two games. Coach Saban even made a reference to it yesterday.

Personally, I think it's comparing apples to oranges.

That UT game was the eighth game in a row the Tide had played. Now, it was the fifth SEC game we'd played and for Notre Dame that was the fifth they'd played after a bye week.

A possible comparison, in my eyes, was the mental makeup aspect. Notre Dame had just finished a road game where they beat OU. It's very likely they were still dealing with the mental drain that kind of contest had on the team psyche. UT was a physical and mental drain evidenced by the teams' play. Both teams worn out, but in different circumstances.

About the only thing I've seen that caught my eye in this bowl season is how teams have finished. I see the teams that lost to ND while winning their bowl games have done so by a very slim margin. The ones that lost to ND and lost their bowl games have been blown out.

On the other hand, those teams we've played are the opposite. SEC that have lost have done so by a slim margin, those that have won have done so soundly.

Is there anything that can be drawn from that? Not really. It's just something that caught my eye.

The one thing I did notice about Pitt was the lack of overall team speed—especially on defense. That wasn't as glaringly obvious when I watch their game against ND. It was clear against Ole Miss.

For the first time since I remember watching college football (20+ years), Ole Miss has a future to be excited about. Even with Eli, I think everyone knew when he left, so would their winning. If they can keep Freeze, they're gonna win some games with him there.

Don't panic There is not a lot we can do other than be sad that the season is ending. Ole Miss beating Pitt just helps us believe our eyes and and not believe the ears of ESPN.

Just the adrenaline rushing...Not sure I could take a loss in the championship...That Superbowl loss in 2002 against TB was bad enough...A loss to ND in the National Championship would just be demoralizing
