🏈 Gus to the barn

Well that's 3 more years of high school spread offense and mediocre defense
I was telling a coworker earlier "i hope they hire Gus" and this is the exact reason i gave him.

Even if he keeps Uncle Rico as their DC, developing the kind of physical toughness to be an elite defense will be difficult when you go against a finesse offense in practice every day. That's my theory as to why Texas never developed an elite defense with all their top recruiting classes and Muschamp coaching the D.

Look forward to more Bama backs ravaging the Tiger defense between the tackles.

Some people who claim to be in the know are saying that Kirby turned it down after asking of any potential NCAA stuff looming out there and if he could finish out his season with Bama. Auburn would not give a response to it so he declined. TIFWIW

it makes since though as I don't think Auburn would form a hiring committee if they had planned n getting Gus all along. I think they went after some coaches but none would accept the fact of walking into a potential investigation and recruiting nightmare. Petrino got his call only to appease the fringe at Auburn that wanted him. Gus seemed like their last resort rather than "boom" hire we were told would happen.

I'm confused. I thought they were supposidly going to open the checkbook on this coaching search and get a proven headcoach. 2.3 mil a year is opening the checkbook? And Gus has only been a headcoach for 1 year.....at Arky St. Looks like another version of a deperation hire, just like with Cheezit. :icon_scratch:

Kirby was not offered the job

Anyone else catch the opening presser? It was pretty comical. Felt like everyone had a pine comb up their butt wanting to ask meaty questions but restraint out of respect I guess lol. JJ always cracks me up when he opens his good ole boy pie hole. :biggrin_blue:
