šŸ€ Gurley returning for '22; J Quinerly undecided while Keon Ellis and Rojas say it's their last year.

I saw JD was projected laye first with the Rockets or Pelicans. Had to re-read that.
I don't think he returns, but one more year would make him a lottery pick. He would likely improve defensively and his decision making to break down the defense.

Plus to have him, Nimari, Bradley, Griffen, Miles, and possibly another grad transfer guard would make us really deep at guard.

Seems to me JD's biggest improvement needs to come from ball handling and shooting. You can certainly see his athleticism but the flow of the offense is challenged when he is in the game. Drive and turn the ball over or drive and kick out. Occasionally he will take a shot but not the first thing he seems to think about, I take that as a confidence issue.

I kind of expected him to struggle with his jump shot since it wasn't really a strong trait of his in HS. Another season would likely improve his numbers. But you're correct in that his handles are something I expected him to be better. He shows flashes, but just isn't consistent enough.

It'll be his decision to make. The combine will give him great reviews on his athleticism alone. But he really could make a lot more money by coming back.

I agree. I feel only time is going to satisfy his deficiencies. I look at how polished Sexton and even Kyra was, and JD is nowhere near where those guys were. Sexton struggled in the NBA his first season, but has turned into a ball player. Kyra came back to college for a second year and solidified his talents into a first round selection. I see it as a huge mistake if JD leaves. I know these guys love saying they were one and dones, but I hope he can honestly see he's not going to see much playing time. Of course, I said the same about Joshua Primo, but atleast he had consistency as a Freshman.

Rumor on Rivals that Shack is going to be expected to return as well. If true, he is going to become Alabama's all time scorer in 3-point FGs and 3-point attempts. Not sure where he stands in all-time scoring, but he's not top 10 right now.

High level question, is discussing if you are leaving or coming back a distraction at this point? Still in the middle of the season. Maybe this is more of a formality about who do you honor during senior night but would be nice to see these guys focusing on basketball and getting better. I guess I am thinking of how Saban handles this. Usually a topic at least that we hear about after the season.
