I am not trying to argue, but I don't want anyone to misunderstand what I am trying to say. I'll go with your military example (and I have NO military background so I apologize if I misuse terms or anything else).
Let's say you just joined the military and are fresh out of boot camp. You've had some training exercises, hooray. You are now put with a unit that has people who have been through 1 or multiple tours in Iraq. Now you decide to go and tell the media that your company does not take their training seriously, don't know what they're doing, or whatever and this gets national publicity. Now put yourself in the shoes of the guy that has done multiple tours of Iraq (maybe this is you, I don't know you personally). How are you going to appreciate this guy who hasn't seen any action telling you that you are not preparing correctly or are acting selfishly?
Basically what it comes down to is GMac should not have aired out the dirty laundry of the locker room for everyone to see. If he felt the need to say this, then say it in the locker room to your team. If one of our redshirt freshman came out and said something of this effect about us to the media, then we would be telling him to get out.
I'll shut up and say no more on this.
